Yup, the store is up right now and there's no updates to either the iBook or Mac mini.

At the moment both show "Estimated Ship: 3-5 business days."

Delightful watching the obsessiveness at work here.

What I wonder is once the iBooks are updated, how long will it be before we have a brand new thread hanging out for the next update. :D

About the time it takes to refresh the iBook page and read the specs, about a minute.

False alarm. Just regular maintenance.

Some day Apple needs to take the site down and come back up with a picture of

Maybe not, but I once saw a 1.33GHz 12" PB G4 with Jaguar installed on it. This machine was introduced in April 2004, so it had Panther on it from the factory. The previous owner liked Jaguar better somehow so that's what was on the machine. The guy who bought it is a friend of mine, so I helped him clear Jaguar from it and install Panther. My point is that with Jaguar, the Panther-shipped machine ran really badly. YMMV of course, as this is just anecdotal.

Are the iMac displays and Apple displays of a better quality than the Mac notebook displays?

I don't know if they're better quality, but they are brighter. They have more room for a larger backlight.

It's being picked up in the mainstream press now.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Apple may be gearing up to unveil a new slate of mini-Macs and may also release updated versions of its popular iBook laptop computers as early as next Tuesday, according to unconfirmed reports on a Web site that tracks Apple.

The Web site Think Secret reported three new Mac mini and two new iBook part numbers have appeared in Apple's retail database, indicating that new models are imminent.

Has anyone realized that on Tuesday everymac except the PowerMac G5 will have AP and BT Standard?

Seems a bit odd to me, that the high end machine doesn't have AP or BT Standard.

Well, as for Airport standard, it's not really a portable machine, so Apple just figured that no one would nee Airport in it.

Kay, obviously I'm coming late to this whole "Store Down" thing as I was sleeping (a hobby I like to indulge in every once and a while), but Apple routinely does upgrades to its Online Store - doing such a maintenance upgrade on an early Sunday morning makes a lot of sense (can't get much more of an ideal time that that for a maintenance window) so I'm pretty certain that's all it would have been. They were probably doing minor things to it, and making sure all is in working order for the REAL updates on Tuesday when we see new Mac Minis and iBooks.

New models don't make old ones obsolete. I don't understand why such a simple truth is lost so easily.

How amusing. Then you wont mind trading PBs with me? Mine is a 12" rev a.

Its a BLAST on Tiger.

Well, I'm just glad I didn't spend another hour waiting for nothing. I just better wake up Tuesday to something good.
