Sales-Tax FREE doesn't give it away?
Maybe I've been living under a rock. Is this an Apple program?

Oh. Okay. Now that makes sense. I wonder if Apple applies the exemption for online orders that day. I'm sure it doesn't apply in sunny California.tikibangout said:No, only a select few, very few states do it.
miloblithe said:Why would anyone want a 1024x655 display over a 1024x768 display? I understand the aesthetic argument for a wide screen, but like others on here have pointed out, if it's just a loss of pixels, it's a really bad idea.

too bad they're not black (same material though)
1984 said:How about 1152x768 for a 13" widescreen display?
w_parietti22 said:Be mature! the iBooks pick up hot girls not make you look girly. Ever heard of the saying "real men wear pink"?

boogieman said:Ah crap I just purchased a mac mini today and get home and see this WHY ME WHY ME....... Should I take it back??????
MikeLord said:Well, yes, but right now, I think a lot of current Mac users would like a new machine but are hesitant to invest BIG $$$ in a new machine (especially with an integrated display like the iMac G5) before the x86 machines are released. A slightly more powerful Mac Mini would certainly fill that gap well.
macnews said:I just hope the mini's have a faster video card for core image and better or more default ram. Two slots would be nice. I don't need built in bluetooth, airport would be nice but not required either to keep a low price point. Gigabit ethernet would be good as well.
Side note: Anyone find the Napster ad on macrumors just a little ironic?
tsk said:It seems like a given that any update from here on out will automatically have 512MB of RAM standard as well as a 64MB video card.
sw1tcher said:Personally, I would. Just a few more days. And then another few days for them to ship (or a week if you BTO).
Or just keep it and get some money back because Apple will surely reduce the price on current models. How much? Maybe $50 or so.
Lacero said:No chance of a $399 Mac mini. That's too bad. It's overpriced at $699 no matter what the configuration.
chucknorris said:With all due respect iEric, are you nuts? Black is for dime-a-dozen pc's.
"Is that an hp or a dell or a sony...or is that an apple?" I SHUDDER at the thought!
tikibangout said:Now that wouldn't be a problem. You aren't losing any pixels that way. If they do release widescreen, then I hope to god its 1152x768.
i bought my pb because ibooks didn't have a superdrive. i regretted it tho, because a month after i did, the pretty g4 ibooks with the superdrive option was avalible for half the price. gah! i don't know if i should sell my 12" 1ghz pb and get one of these widescreen ibooks. i am still not convinced the intel's will be so much faster, and there is no way there will be a g5 in a laptop soon, or even, at all. pm me if you have advice.JeffTL said:Looks to me like they'll just make the SuperDrive standard on the $1299 version of the 14-incher, and maybe on the 12 as well.
It must not be a feature that is convicing people to buy PowerBooks instead, so it's a simple decision to put DVD burners in all iBooks.
I for one would very much welcome a SuperDrive in the 12" iBook -- and of course, if it's a new model (and not just a price change for the top iBook), we're also talking most likely about more RAM, also welcome.
