Hm... there's something suspicious about the photograph showing the bottom of the keyboard, the one with the components sticker. Looks like somebody has cloned over the left hand side of the casing. The white colour is off in an inconsistant non smooth graduation (like you would get under normal conditions) compared to the right half. It's a darker and cooler colour than the warmer/green/yellowish white of the other half. Raise the contrast in PhotoShop for instance if you can't make it out. You'll also see the sharp delineation that you'd get through amateur use of something like a PS clone brush.

Not implying that this rumour is fake, but that picture's definately been digitally altered.

Or that's the reflection of the guy holding his camera ;-)

Haha...owned

?? What's wrong with the apple logo? i believe it's fake, but what's wrong with the apple logo?

Take a look at the logo on the RIGHT side (not the big one). Does this really look like a real Apple logo to you?

I COMPLETELY agree! this keyboard looks like it would be painful to use. I just don't see apple sacrificing function for form to the extent this keyboard exhibits.

Someone doesn't remember the hockey puck mouse....

You can plug 1st gen iPods in the current keyboards. But those have USB 1.1 poert, so you really don't want to sync your iPod with that :)
If they used white plastic instead of aluminum, it would look cheap. Glossy plastic would be too sticky and matte plastic would look wahed out pretty fast. Anodysed aluminum has a nice texture and won't get polished by your fingers that fast. Plus it adds some necessary weight to the keyboard, think how light it would be if it was all plastic, it would mover around when typing.

I'm fine with using aluminum, just use it for the keys too. The problem with plugging the 1st gen shuffle into this is that it rests on the USB ports at an angle. With no other feet (which seem unlikely given the design), then the keyboard would be resting on the shuffle, which is probably a bad idea. But, as I mentioned, you probably wouldn't want to plug it in there anyway.

In a strange way I think that actually gives it more legitimacy. It's easy to make a perfect Apple logo, it's in many Mac fonts. There is no reason for a faker to draw an Apple logo when it's right there available for use.

But it looks like a crappy sticker used on internal testing models, so there's no reason for it to be all pretty.

There was probably more reveling information on that side of the keyboard.

The person would have been better off to black it out than to try and cover it up. Mac rumor-mongors will find everything while trying to spot a fake.

On the bottom of the keyboard:
Bottom Cover: Arctic white

Maybe a black one will also be available?

Look closely. It's a shadow of a guy holding a digital camera.

What's the whole point of keeping the Apple logo there? It confuses new users when someone tells them "Command" key, which people use more often than "Apple" key. Getting rid of the logo makes room to put "command," on it.

And how could this be fake? How could someone go to this much trouble? The keys even use the same font as those on the MacBooks. Look at ALL the photos. It's difficult to be skeptical.

I couldn't agree more. And with more and more PC users buying Apple stuff, maybe the logo on the key is unnecessary.

Oh, if you look at the F4 key on the shot with the ruler, it's definitely a Dashboard icon...at least to my eyes. So I agree with the poster who said Expose and Dashboard on F3 and F4.

It doesn't matter what Mac I have, I always end up plugging my IBM Model M keyboard into it.

Apple hasn't made a good keyboard since the Extended II. I really don't get it; they make some of the best computers around, but can't make a keyboard worth crap.

I'm hoping this keyboard, if it's real, has at least a nice tactile feel, instead of that mush that describes their current keyboards. The thing is, even if it does, I'll probably still stick with my trusty Model M and the USB adapter.

Hmmmm, Looks lie a complete piece of garbage.

No open-Apple key? wtf! (and no, I'm not going to call it command, it''s open-Apple, as opposed to the closed-Apple key \rant)

Well I'm very curious. What is the closed-Apple key?

I cried when I saw such beautiful machines being forced to take orders from your hideous monster of a keyboard. ;)

I find the keyboard that apple make perfect... the thin ones are even better because wuth the thick ones I type more mistakes than with the thin one on a macbook.

I absolutely abhor the iMac G5 keyboards (and their ilk), but really, I quite like the MacBook-style design.

Nothing's quite as clicky as an old IBM keyboard though.

I really like it. While I believe apple has done a fair job of making the keyboard somewhat stylish, it is still big and bulky. This is sleek, like apple's products. A good mixture of AL and plastic. :)

Prior to the Platinum Apple IIe, the option key was originally the closed-Apple or solid-Apple key. It was on the right side of the space bar, and was a complement to open-Apple, which is the same key as the "Command" we all know and love today.

When the Platinum IIe came out, Apple changed closed/solid-Apple to "option", because it was probably easier to describe on the phone to new users. They also moved it next to the open-Apple/command key, and it has been there ever since.

Amusing related tidbit: The open-apple/command and solid-apple/option keys on the Apple II were electrically connected to the game paddle buttons. This was because the Apple II keyboard design didn't support detecting more than one key pressed at once, so this was the only way to implement it.

I feel so old-school talking about this. :)
