waiting on iMac.

I have to admit I don't got too much dough..
I have training in Multimedia. So-It's between these two:

3.2GB-8800GS-Penryn
I heard from online sources Interactive tv and widgets may depend on i7????

so maybe when it comes:
i7+double blu-ray burner(there maybe double-blu ray content trend??)+ new technology infa-red receiver (Universal)
all you need<<

Does anyone know when about in November the new iMac will come out?

I know the rumor is mid November but does anyone know when?

Thanks, because I want a iMac as soon as possible and would like to know how much longer I will be waiting.

My guess would be the second week of November.

I really hope they add the LED displays to the new iMacs.

Cool thats the week after my birthday, I'm going to buy one as soon as they come out.

Yeah, I'm going to rush over to the Apple store when it is available.

I think the update will be more than just a speed bump because I believe that Apple will want to make the gold rating for the iMac(which is currently has a silver rating) and of course all the other things people mentioned previously.

I can't wait to get it. :D

im a long pc user and the imac has always caught my eye with its simplicty i do video editing on my pc and dropping the firewire port on the imac would not be a great decision i plan to buy the new imac if it comes out before holiday season i would purchase the mac pro but i cant afford something lk that right now more usb ports would be nice as well and new graphics cards and more memory im not sure if it will come out before holdiay season or at macworld '09

November 25th?

Cool thats the week after my birthday, I'm going to buy one as soon as they come out.

I'm gonna go ahead and say the 25th of November. It's a tuesday and falls exactly on the average days to a refresh from the Buyer's Guide (211). The updates will include a complete bezel around the iMac screen, much like the new LED screen, along with a complete aluminum backing much like the new LED screens. My proof? Nothing, but I have a strong feeling that Apple is trying to create absolute uniformity throughout the products and besides they are trying to remove all plastic that they can from products.

Lets say (and hope) the new iMac's come out on Nov. 18th, and its wonderful, and champagne falls from the heavens, ect. Everyone will be rushing to the Apple stores, except for me... I have a budget of no more than $1,600 and I want an 24". Right now thats perfectly fine, I can pick up a refurb for $1550. But if I want a new one, what will I do?

I guess I have two questions:
1. How long does it usually take between the release of a product and refurbs to pop up

2. How much of a price drop should I expect on the soon to be old iMac refurbs when the new ones come out? (if the new ones are just speedbumps i'll stick with the older version.)

And please don't suggest I just go for a 20" I have been working on a 30" pro at school and anything smaller is horrible, so I want to get as large a screen as possible

Honestly how much more can you do to the iMac? (aesthetically) That’s the problem with simple …maybe they will make em paper thin! But I do expect internal upgrades, nothing wrong with that. ;)

Full aluminum enclosure similar to the MacBooks and the LED replacing the LCD like the MacBooks and the Cinema Display.

Hopefully they'll work on those tacky white plastic power bricks, and the tacky white plastic earbuds.

Then the tacky white plastic docks and tacky white plastic MacBooks and the tacky white plastic dongles and the tacky white plastic....

Its quite obvious by now. On macworld Apple will be about desktops.
Imac about the same, minor updates. Mac mini case redesing. Mac pro nehalem. New cinema displays. Black aluminium keyboards with black mighty mouse.

Just guessing, but very likely.

What's the worry--the price of the refurb models of existing iMacs will go down or at worst stay the same, so you're covered there. The only question is whether you can afford new, and who knows what prices will be.

I personally don't think that either the 20" or the 24" iMac will lose firewire unless there is a redesign, which I don't think will happen as they are designing the notebooks to look like the iMac.
I agree, although I think even a small redesign may be enough.

On the other hand if they redesign it, then I'd expect the 20" not to have it, and the 24" to only have firewire 800.
Agreed. I'd also expect the 20" to have a low-end GPU and the 24" to have a midrange GPU (maybe even this upcoming update).

i personally am going back and forth between an imac and a macbook will probably buy next summer after snow leopard that will also enable them to sort out any bugs if i get the macbook. regular computer stuff with the occasional game, what do you guys recommend. i am a little hesitant of the 13 in display

I faced the same question 18 months ago, and decided to wait for a bit and then go with the then brand new 24in Al iMac, 2.8GhZ at the time. 90% of the time I'm happy with my choice, I love the screen size, and the speed compared to the then current macbook (Black book was 2.16GhZ and slower graphics).

Given the current offerings from Mac, I would do it differently and go for the new macbook with the 24" led monitor and use it as a docking station. There would be a bit of a penalty in processor speed, but the flexibility to be able to take my computer with me when I travel would for me, more than compensate.

Ultimately the decision must come from how you intend to use the machine and will you use for a lot of processor and graphically intensive applications, and the demands of the occasional games you like to play.

Well, if your laptop will spend most of it's time on a desk then go for the iMac. It will be faster, have a larger hard drive and will have a much larger screen than that on the MacBook.

On the other hand, if you bring your laptop to college or work or take it places then get the MacBook. Sure it will be slower, have a smaller hard drive and a smaller screen but you can take it anywhere you want to and it has some nice extra features too. Also if your really missing a larger screen then you can always hook up a external display.

I'd personally go for the iMac though as it's a lot cheaper than a MacBook and external display and the iMac is a lot faster. Then you could get a iPhone to go the internet on the go. :)

Pattern Apple Updates

Here is the quick pattern: Sept. 9th (2nd Week) iPod Update, Oct.14th (2nd Week) Macbook Update, and Now Nov. 11th (2nd Week) iMac Update.

i like the idea of having a keyboard with the glass trackpad on the right side, but what about people that are left handed lol, maybe one with the trackpad on the left side too?
here is what I think we will see in the new iMacs
20" price range - $1099-$1399(maybe 2 diff models)
intel c2d cpu's 2.4ghz or 2.53ghz
2gb ram
9400m and 9600gt on the higher model
superdrive
wireless N
2 USb
1 firewire 800(i dont think it will be discontinued, if it is maybe just on the 20" model)
250gb-320gb hdd
24" model - $1499-$1799(2 diff models)
2.8ghz-3.0ghz
4gb ram
9600gt
superdrive
wireless N
3usb
1 firewire 800
320gb-500gbhdd

on firewire: i think it will stay because the iMac is a consumer and pro computer. People aren't going to spend $3000 on a mac pro just to get firewire. if anything the 20" imac won't have firewire but the 24" will
keyboard: maybe trackpad built in, keys all black, wireless bluetooth keyboards will come standard.
bluray - if the macs come out in november bluray wont be with it. if they wait till macworld 09 to announce the new imacs maybe bluray will be on them.
mac pro - if they put the nehelems in the mac pro they will wait till jan, or maybe they will announce them in nov and have them available by jan? mac pro's aren't gift usually, so announcing them before xmas won't boost sales much. i dont know anyone that gets a $3000 computer for christmas.

macworld 09:
multi colors for iphone
redesigned mac mini
MAYBE mac tablet
I wish for some apple branded speakers that are nice but reasonably prices(unlike bose)
bluetooth keyboard w/ glass trackpad built in
more sizes for cinema displays
bluray drives if they take that path
BIG new app for app store - iSolution for economic iCrisis

News flash....

In case it hasn't been mentioned, Apple store is down. Maybe a surprise??? :D
