its not a matter of being ugly - its a matter that its Intel and most mac-o-philes just can't get over the fact that Apple is going to use those chips.

That being said, if I get a MacTel machine with a sticker on it (which I'm thinking won't happen) I'll remove it.

if there is a sticker, peel it off, exactly.

i honestly dont care so long as it doesn't leave anything on my mac... i hate that sticky stuff

and i don't care if i have an intel chip or PowerPc chip, so long as it works and is better/faster than the maching i am upgrading from.

on another note, if that is indeed the new logo, its ugly.

You see, with me it's just a matter of aesthetics. we've all seen what one of those stickers looks like after a year or so - partially coming off, crooked, etc. It's about as stylish as a pimp's suit.

And I agree that I doubt we'll see the stickers on Macs.

Just Intel, really.

I loves me some PPC chips.

But ...

WHY!? They're going to be better than PPC "toasters" and save you a bit of cash as well. In the long run. Maybe.

Removable labels good. Laser etching, bad.

I have nothing wrong with using Intel chips, I really think it will be a good thing for Apple. My problem is with the ugly stickers, although like I said earlier I'm sure Apple won't put stickers on their machines.

Ahh.. ok.. I see..

I think they should just put the stickers on the box of the unit and leave the unit itself unscathed.

I like the new logos. They're more appealing to the eye than the old ones. I think Intel might have gone a little too far making one for every processor brand they sell - they're going to have lots of logos to look after, especially as Intel releases new processors.

As far as the logos being on Macs, that will depend on if the design allows it. For example, it would be nigh-impossible to put a sticker on the curved form of the iMac G4. I wouldn't mind the stickers being there - in fact, I'd show them off to PC users once the Intel Macs are released.

How about inside the top flaps of the carton, so they don't even spoil the outside of the box?

Every time I look at my wife's VAIO, with all those stickers all over it, I love my PowerBook just a little bit more.

No kidding My grandpa got a new PC (without an advice from me) and when i went over to set up it had all these sticker all over it. THe first thing i did was take ot out of the box and start removing stickers. Gramp asked what i was doing and i told him i was "trying to remove the ugly, now only if i could remove windows. He thought i was kidding btu i proceeded to remove all the stickers ;)

If Intel can trademark the word Core, I would like to trademark the term TeraHertz™ There I just trademarked it.

Since I'm sure that there will eventually be computers what run in excess of 999 gigahertz I am trademarking the term TeraHertz™ now. I expect to be paid every time the term is used an no one else can use it!

How do PC users keep track of all these different processors? How confusing. For most of the Mac's recent history there have only been two processors used at the same time. Early 2000s the G3 and G4 and mid 2000s the G4 and the G5. Isn't that so much easier?

enjoy it... *blech

I think the new logo and design set looks much better than the old, if this is real.

And I have no problem with using Intel. Things should definitely speed up for most of us, though not PowerMac users. My beef is similar to others and those damn stickers. I wouldnt expect my new car to have the engine makers or oil suppliers stickers on the body of it, just as I wouldnt on my Intel Power/iBook. Just the company who made the product please.

I doubt Apple will do it. Dell (and everyone else) does it because Intel supposedly gives manufacturers some perks for advertising their brand more.. I doubt Steve would like the notion of Intel freeloading off Apple's brand name :p

Beauty and the beast... beauty and the beast!

As we get nearer to release, you'll need a new phrase. For Christmas, I trademarked it for you. Happy holidays!

I blew chunks™.

You all say you'd hate the stickers, but just like the original annoucement of the switch to Intel (everyone said they NEVER do it) you guys would accept it pretty quickly and then start making out that this ugly sticker is an advantage, just like you say about the ugly architecture (x86). Pawns.

Unlike most of the people that posted, I never said I hated the stickers. I don't particularly care what Apple decides to do with them, if anything. I was one of those that said Apple would never switch to Intel CPUs then accepted it when Apple announced it.

Aha! Now we know why they abandoned that form factor! It was all about the stickers.

i still think "the swoosh" is the most over used trend in modern design. Come on intel you could be more original....

I for one like the clean simplicity of the logo. I have no good or bad feelings about the switch to intel next year, as long as it I don't see a difference (unless of course it is faster speeds in my PB)

Good article. I don't believe in free advertising. Ever seen a car with a hideous used car dealership plastic logo glued on the trunk? Free advertising. It makes your car look tacky, and the dealership isn't paying you to advertise for them. Same thing on the laptops, there are about 4-5 different stupid stickers on the wrist wrest that just make the laptop look tacky. Tacky tacky! I like my lone Apple Logo on the back of my screen....
