New iPad Air 2 Activation with T-Mobile 200MB

I took the free data SIM from my old iPad Air and put it in my new Air 2 and the 200MB of free data transferred over with no problem. I thought it was only good on the iPad that you activate it on but I see now that it's not.

I think the month to month ? Maybe it's only the matching data plan they are offering it for ?

On their website you can sign up for a "bring your own tablet" plan at $20/month and you get a free sim card to put in your device. I'm guessing this is the same plan as signing up with the Apple sim I already have.

I went to a T-Mobile store to try and buy a prepaid SIM to activate on the device (I know they go on sale at T-Mobile.com frequently, but didn't want to wait and was fine with the $10).

They said they couldn't just sell me the SIM, and they I couldn't activate it on the device. They said I needed to create the account with them, in the store. Too much friction, so I left.

I drove to Best Buy, picked up a T-Mobile prepaid SIM off the rack, took it to the front, paid my $10. Put it in my iPad Air, and activated the free 200MB no problem.

So if you're cool paying the $10, just buy from Best Buy. Less friction that way.

Yeah they love to do that .... I personally don't like that myself as well

Pretty much what they told me at a T-Mobile store, that I needed to activate a data plan with them. How can they be so misinformed within the company?

I don't think their customer service knows what they are doing and are very horrible as customer service . You get some good ones though. Them as people are very polite and a joy to talk to though . I left t-mobile years ago because of bad customer service and might leave again after my EIP is done with my note 4
