Apple suppliers have started production of a new fifth-generation iPad Air and third-generation iPhone SE, according to Japanese blog Mac Otakara.

Citing reliable sources in China, the report claims that the new iPhone SE will retain the same chassis design as the current model released in 2020, and the device will apparently continue to lack support for MagSafe accessories. Key features of the new iPhone SE are expected to include a faster A15 Bionic chip and 5G support.

Mac Otakara previously reported that the new iPad Air will have similar features as the new iPad mini, including an A15 Bionic chip, a 12-megapixel Ultra Wide front camera with Center Stage support, 5G support for cellular models, and Quad-LED True Tone flash.

That report said the new iPad Air will have the same overall design as the current model, including a single-lens rear camera. Released in October 2020, the current iPad Air features a 10.9-inch display with slim bezels, a Touch ID power button, and a USB-C port, with color options including Space Gray, Silver, Green, Rose Gold, and Sky Blue.

Both the new iPad Air and iPhone SE models are expected to be announced this spring, with an Apple Event possible in March or April.

Looking forward to the updated iPad Air. Just purchased the iPad 9th gen for my girlfriend, will be setting it up this weekend, but I would like something with the updated iPad designs, and Apple Pencil 2 support for myself.

I used an iPad 2 for textbooks and other things in graduate school years ago now, when iPad OS was very basic.

Dang it. I figured MagSafe was a stretch - too big an internal change - but was hoping.

I was also hoping we’d at least hear if the camera had been updated. Pretty sure SE 2 still used the iPhone 8 camera with “a better sensor”. Wonder if there are any changes this time from the 2.

How about the high-end Mac Mini? hopefully it doesn't get pushed to WWDC as it has been rumored for the iMac Pro... by the current shipment estimates of the new MBPs, I'm not optimistic.
Why shouldn't they announce a more powerful Mac mini alongside the other upcoming Mac products? WWDC seems a perfect time.

I don't think you got my reply, the high-end Mac Mini has been rumored to be launching since forever now, it was supposed to come out alongside the new MBP's last fall, but didn't, as you can tell by the on going chip shortage (and 4+ weeks of shipping estimates on the MBPs), and also perhaps a marketing decision to not undercut the more expensive MBP, it didn't materialized then.

Now we were expecting it in the Spring event, but no more info has leaked, while new SE and iPad Air leaks come out every other day.

Would Apple hold a spring event just for update iPad Air and iPhone SE?
I sure hope there are more releases.
Pretty sure we will see more releases such as software updates, along with new Apple Watch bands. Might see the new iPhone 13 color. This was last year's event and it was decent.

Please add us to the "waiting for the new iPhone SE" list.
It would be nice if the event takes place in March :)
We're curious about upcoming high-end Mac mini and
MacBook Air as well.
