Yeah I know, the iPad 2 wifi 16GB with the new recently reduced price sells for ~$700,00 but still there is a huge demand for iPhones and iPads here, most carriers have waitlists for iPhones any time of the year. They can also be bought at the Apple on-line store but for a considerably higher price.

Anyway I don't care if it comes for $800 I'm not mad with the prices, I'm mad with the delay on product releases !

Well the higher the price, the more unimpressive the sales I'd think, disenfranchises a lot of potential customers. So I'm sure they're shooting for high numbers for at least the initial release. Looks good to stockholders and on paper. But like you said there's a pretty heavy wait list for products already so who knows?

I mean Brazil did overtake the UK as the 6th largest economy in the world, there's a lot of potential there. Hopefully they get it released for you guys soon though.

Holy ****!

I just checked New Zealand Prices, their MBP 17" starts at $3,400 USD.

I think the galaxy note 10.1 offers something different. Havent ever used android before so cant comment on the software. None come close tho for screen quality

The problem isn't hardware when it comes to the tablet market. It's the apps. Most apps on Android are just for phones and look crap on a tablet and there is a distinct lack of specially designed tablet apps for Android. Until that's sorted, Android will get left behind in this area.

I just drove past the store in the pic - didn't look busy.

If it's the usual story both iPads allocated for New Zealand will have been sold by now.

@OSX11 - yes Macs still command a premium price here. The favourable NZ/US exchange rate over the last few years has helped bring teh prices down but we still pay a premium of an extra several hundred dollars per unit when you compare Apples to Apples.

We don't have an Apple store here - there is a main supplier which sells to different retailers. They tried to set up their own chain of stores which has not worked very well for them.

The online NZ Apple store is actually run from Australia.

Got mine a few hours ago from Dick Smith in NZ. There were only about 10 people in the line, seemed to be more at a nearby store. I got the 32GB 4G model, for NZ $1079.
I was first in line, camped out from about 3am :)
Needless to say, I love the screen. And it's my first iPad, so I get to experience all the benefits of the previous 2 generations too.

Newmarket represent! Isnt it about time auckland gets an apple store?

There is a Y00B33 down in Britomart as well, if that's what you're meaning. We won't get an actual Apple Store until we actually have an Apple presence :(.

As for the queue, I'm pretty darn surprised, but then again I suppose that's because I still don't see the point of the device. Then again, at least queuing for that one is not subject to the idiocy of Vodafone!

Popped in to a local authorised reseller - They said they're not getting it until Saturday haha..... Was a bit of a surprise, as it's all exclusively Mac stuff (like YOOBEE, but not).

4g europe

Did you know that 4g doesn't work on europe, at least in Portugal...
Apple fault :(

No, Yoobee is nothing like the official apple store when it comes to customer service. If you have a problem with ur apple product they will help you out foc. Even if its out of warranty.

Yep. Low average income and high cost of everything in NZ.

Unfortunately, no official Apple Store will ever get to NZ; the six people who can afford new Apple gear just bought their iPads this morning, and won't upgrade for another 4 years... Not quite the turnover and profit levels that Apple usually get.

Te Warewhare, now that's a chain who've got the target market sorted;)

So does either verizon or att 4g model work on the european 4g lte networks? Or am i right in thinking only 3g will work here in Poland?
If you were outside of the US then you would not even consider the Verizon model as the international model "is" the AT&T model.

LTE on the international version will only work on AT&T in the US or Rogers, Bell and Telus in Canada but you might be able to get up to 42 Mbits/s if your carrier supports Dual Carrier HSPA+ or at least 21Mbits/s if they don't.

Well, the prices are too high for me in my country (Hungary -.-"). I think I'm going to get it from the USA, I just need to find a shop that is shipping to my country.

Yes but that includes all Taxes so its broadly the same as the UK store (£100 in it depending on what rates you use) which also include the 20% VAT we have to pay.

You can blame Brazilian trade laws for that one.

There's a reason why Apple is trying to produce the iPhone 4S there, and that's because Brazil wants so much of a cut on imported stuff they drive the prices skyward.

The lag on iPad launch here has nothing to do with import taxes. Actually, brazilian-made iPads will cost nearly the same as the imported ones. This is explained partially by the higher labour costs, but it doesn't explain almost imperceptible price cuts. Besides zero import taxes, there are other local subsides.

So, in truth, Apple will increase its profits when produce in Brazil. That is, Apple helps local people bringing more jobs, and government helps Apple with tax cuts while allowing them to sell iStuff for nearly the same price of the imported ones. It's a win-win.

I thought there was a huge financial crisis in Greece??? Since when jobless-pennyless people afford electronic gizmos for 500-600 Euros?

Steam Roller.

I guess the iClone commercials haven't changed buyers on waiting in line to by something that just works.
