To run stage manager you only need 6gb of ram on an iPad… So the iPad mini could do it but it’s not enabled by apple.
I would like to point out the iPad Mini 6 is able to run Stage Manager on it's 4GB of RAM.
Don't think stage manager will be useful on a smaller display.
I can’t imagine stage manager being pleasant or very useful on a 7 inch display, honestly
It is very useful on a small display. I can make a few clusters of 2-3 apps and swap between them really conveniently. It sucks that this isn't a feature that is able to be opted into in the settings. It will be a sad day for me when Apple patches the method for enabling it.

Might as well get decent foldable Android with Dex support, yes, at the moment it's more expensive, but if you combine phone with tablet costs and include generous sales, one might as well go with convenience of owning one device.

I tried this with the Z Fold Series - unfortunately I live in an area of the US that can get very cold in the Winter months - and I frequently go outside. Needing to be weary of where and when I use the bigger display made it a no go for me. These problems on top of the phone being the cost of an entire ecosystem set up - make it a no go.

I much prefer the heartiness of the slab form factor with trusty non-bendy glass. As far as sub 9" slab Android tablets - there are very few offered in the US with good specs and long term support. :(

Well, it should count! But does that work? If I'm logging into my bank on my desktop I get the SMS on my phone.
I'm talking more about phone and tablet hybrid rather than 3 in 1 device where Dex completely replaces even ones main desktop/laptop computer.
However, sms to your Galaxy Fold in either of these scenarios should work regardless. I don't neither see(I don't own one tho) nor have read otherwise that it shouldn't. Your "main" device shouldn't know or care if it has sms capability or not and thus shouldn't set limitations as to what kind of authentication method should you use on your device, but from security perspective I get your point.
