Possible for it to have an M series chip. Better water resistance will be good. Want to see 120Hz too but not sure whether Apple will implement it

If the 60Hz rumor is true, definitely not.

I think it's likely just going to be an A19 Pro, which is a good step over the A17 Pro.

If it got a M series chip I'd be shocked, but it would likely also not be as amazing as it sounds on paper. We'd end up with an iPhone Air situation... the nicer chip is in there, but the thermal headroom of the device wouldn't allow it to run to it's full potential.
Good idea. I truly believe demand will be off-the-charts for iPad Mini 8.

If it’s over 700 without 120hz my personal demand will vanish and I was excited for an update.

the key to me will be the bezels. I’ll buy unless they keep the same picture frame bezels they have now

If my memory serves me well I believe they were keeping the same chassis size with ~0.2 inch screen size increase. Therefore the bezels shouldn’t be as thick as they are now. Just a rumour though…

How so? No Face ID, no ProMotion, no quad speakers (maybe not even stereo ones, given the resonance speaker rumor). And it remains to be seen if the SoC will be better than in (say) the iPhone Air.

All likely correct, but if the price increases Apple may deem it necessary to position it as a Pro based mostly on processor and a miniature premium.
It wouldn't be the first time users have disagreed about what makes Pro, Pro.

The mini has always been a mid-tier iPad, on the same level as the iPad Air since the Pro was introduced. The "major chip upgrade" rumored here wouldn't change that, given that the iPad Air already has an M4 chip. The Air will also migrate to OLED likely next year, with pricing to increase as for the mini, so they will be on par for that as well. I really see not indication of moving to the Pro tier. OLED is simply becoming standard — even the entry-level iPhone "e" has it — and prices are adjusting to the new hardware economics across the board.

Unless iPadOS 27 is a real albatross on my current mini iPad v7, I see no itching need to blow lots of dollars for perhaps a "fancy" screen and faster processor. I have all the speed I need to read web pages and other materials.

I am not doing rocket re-entry calculations or anything very important so this can keep going until it does not get Apple operating system updates. Have the same mind set for my M4 11" iPad 2TB with keyboard.

If it doesn’t have a 120hz screen I’m done with the Mini. Insane at this point in time to not have it, everything else I have is at least that.
If it doesn't have face id I won't be having another. The last one I had with touch id was a complete pain. If they can get face id in an iphone why not in an ipad mini?

I think there are a number of us on here that love the form factor, but were unimpressed with what the 7 offered and are hanging on to aging 5's and 6's.
That would be me hanging on to an aging 5 because I use it mainly for reading and I hate the jelly scrolling, which is very noticeable and annoying (at least for me) in all tests I’ve done at stores.
