Mobile handheld devices: Thinner/Lighter = better experience as long as battery life is not compromised. At least for me. Smart speakers, Apple TV, Mac Pro, "Apple Car", Monitors, make them as thick as you like, don't care,
Tell that to the ipad pro people who complain about bending bec the device is too thin
Sorry , in everything must be a limit, laws of physics cannot be tricked

just because its slightly thicker, think it wont bend as easily and if it will still work with the current Magic Keyboard Case (i don't see why it wouldn't?)

Many people joking about 0.5mm... the iPhone 12 Pro is 0.7 thinner than the iPhone 11 Pro. For the 11 Pro, reviews said it was definitely thicker than previous versions (and I can tell). For the 12 Pro, it’s definitely thinner despite the edges. Thinner/thicker makes a difference in mobile devices, people who say “just make it 9mm to fit more battery, no one would care” are really wrong.

So the iPad Pro 2020 is 5.9mm thick, the Air is 6.1mm and the new pro is going to be 6.4mm.

Based on the fact the new air bends just as easily as the pro, I can’t see an extra 0.3mm on top of the air (if that is actually correct) created much more sturdiness really.

The iPhone 6 Plus (or the ‘bend gate’ iphone) was 7.1mm thick and that still bend relatively easily, they need to improve the structure in order for it to be less bendy IMO, that slight thickness increase won’t make hardly any difference on a tablet that size.

In March I think we are going to get:

iPad Mini - 499
iPad Pro 11 - 799
iPad Pro 12.9 - 999
iPad Pro Max 12.9 (miniLED) - 1199

Maybe Magic Keyboard 2, but I should think the thickness increase should fit in the current version so they might hold out a year on that.

Or they may just make the 12.9 1099 and just have the one version of it possibly too. Depends how much they want to screw people for the amazing new screen tech...

Is "better display performance compared to traditional LCDs" really something people desire?
Unless Mini-LED is able to also drive down cost I am simply not feelin' this.

12.9-Inch Model Could Be Slightly Thicker?!?!?!

When Apple's new product is thicker than the old one they have my attention! Thinner and lighter is not always the way to go.
iPads are exceptions to this rule. All iPads released so far have had exceptional battery life and performance. Because of their size the 12.9 inch is just a tad heavy for me. I would rather the iPads go thinner and lighter.

so this suggests there will be a 11 inch iPad Pro but just will have a better chip and not mini led.

rumours also suggest we will see 11 inch pro getting OLED next year

F the larger Pro's. Where's a new iPad Mini with the main Pro features??
(Face ID, USB-C, Pencil 2, squared design.) Instant sales!!
Just like the iPhone mini that was supposed to take the would with storm?I see that others have the same comment.

0.5 mm...Who cares. The real issue here is if it gets an M1 with 8Gb RAM.

You should take a look at some of those laws, they're pretty crazy once you get beyond the apple and gravity-level; we just lack the tools to properly take advantage of them when building stuff. So no need to trick any laws (beyond the spooky tricks you are allowed to do according to some other laws); just apply them right.

To be fair, Apple shot themselves in the foot on the iPhone mini by not realising that that market consists of long-cycle upgraders that product-starved recently went for the SE instead.

As far as an iPad Pro Mini… I NEEEEEEDS IT!!

Seriously, my MBP16 is amazing, and if I'm doing that whole nerdy wannabe IT-ronin programming at a café-thing you wouldn't catch me without both the MBP16 and an iPad (sidecar); but when all I need to do is write an important email, then I'm currently hyperfocusing with just my iPhone (curse you newfangled picture-in-picture!!) and a foldable bluetooth keyboard.

The iPad Mini would have that perfect size for me where I get a slightly bigger display, and yet it doesn't take up any more room than any pocket or mini-bag that currently could hold an iPhone Max can handle.

That slightly bigger display would be absolutely noticeable, and very welcome; but not at the cost of giving up security, or having to use Touch ID every damn time I've spent a few seconds too long without typing.

The only reason why I would buy a future foldable iPhone would be if that's the only way for me to get something that approximates an iPad Pro Mini; but, preferably I would of course rather have a pair of Apple Glass with every app running in a virtual window. *insert Tom Cruise Minority Report-gif*

Love my ipad Pro 12.9 (2018). But what i dont like that much are the black levels when watching movies. Will a Mini LED Display be significantly better in black levels?

Do you happen to put it in your bag full of books/heavy stuff that pressures it when in your back? Because I can't think any other"normal usage" way to bend that aluminum
Cool story, bro.

I'm a man.
I’m not delicate.

I treated all of the iPads I’ve owned EXACTLY the same.
The smaller ones didn’t bend.
The largest did.
Repeatedly.

soooooo.....
I’m aware of this thing called physics.
Maybe they skipped it at your school?
The pertinent piece here is the knowledge that as a piece of aluminum gets a greater surface area, with the same thickness- it is weakened.

Any further confusion, try some Google.

Thicker (and potentially heavier) for a screen that's barely better. Erm... This could be the second worse iPad Pro update after the 2020 one which added nothing but a useless Lidar sensor
Here’s your excuse to get a fitness center membership.
