New iPad S/N doesn't use old date format

Oh I found it finally on the actual invoice from Apple, not the tracking page from FedEx :)

These week numbers are quite interesting. I wonder if they have to do with the time they were placed or if they are just completely random. I originally ordered one right after the keynote but cancelled that ordered another one around 11pm that same day and I got a Week 9. I ordered my brother on my account about 2 hours before my second order and his is Week 8.

The ones who have early Week numbers, did you order it right after the keynote? Conversely, the ones who have late Week numbers, did you order it a couple hours after?

yes, I ordered mine at about 11:30pm the night of the keynote and I got a week 9.
 
I ordered when the webpage went up and got a Week 9, so it has nothing to do with when you ordered. Most likely there are pallet fulls of iPads that were produced in different weeks. The earlier week models are probably on the bottom of the pallet. :)

Ooh, our iPads are similar lol. Mine is 2012, week 3 :/ Feels a bit old compared to all the week 8, 9, and 10 iPads! ):
 
Does anyone elses iPad 3 SN start with DQ? The site says that it is a serial number for refurbished ipad.. what is going on here?? :confused::confused::confused:
