Guys, which is better? DY or DMPH?
I want a crystal clear screen![]()
Mine's DY, bought 2 days ago and it says August week 34. The screen and everything is perfect![]()
Got another ipad in white this time.
First one had horrible red tint across half of the screen.
Another one has yellow tint on one corner screen, and slight yellow side bleed.
Both DYs. The first one was hilariously awful. This second one is acceptable for normal people but will likely go back because its very noticeable on any white paged website or kindle.
What month production is it ?
attached photo is from a DMP, just bought it today. drove 45 mins each way to the Apple Store in Wilmington, Delaware
i didn't even bother turning it on when i saw the deep-depth chip in the corner of the aluminum shell. for all i know, the screen could have a color scheme like a giant yellow piss stain. this iPad was poorly handled at the factory, which is evident from all of the scrapes and scruffs on the plastic protectors it came in. not sure how something like this passed quality control - i noticed it as soon as i took it out of the box. i'm honestly shocked that it was only damaged this much
You should turn it on because if get a good display, that cosmetic damage is perfectly acceptable because you will likely have to go through a dozen more iPads to find a display without an awful uneven tint.
wow, they are still that bad?
i would have thought the newer ones would be better (hence why i waited 6 months later and why i didn't go with a refurb bc i don't trust that the technicians fully inspected the display for tint issues). what website do you recommend i go to, to fully test the screen?
Update: OK i just turned it on. every default is set to the Netherlands which is very odd. when i received my iPad 2, it was set to the United States by default. has anyone else had their iPad 3 default language/region set to the Netherlands
There is light bleed at the bottom edge (see photo). This combined with the above mentioned chip in the corner of the aluminum shell - does it warrant a return? The light bleed is only noticeable during a black screen or when that side of the iPad is blackened out (during a movie etc). it's not noticeable when i have the brightness set at a comfortable level though, in any situation
Any graphics-intense game (like Metal Storm) is unplayable - it can't keep a steady frame rate, it's choppy all over the place.
The viewing angle is extremely narrow - any slight deviation and I get a pink tint that blankets large sections of the screen.
Wonderful...this piece of ***** is going back tomorrow
Why are posting the same photos in every thread? WE SEEN IT ALREADY!!!
As they say - "Go Tell It On The Mountain"
Yeah, and I say " Go back to the mountain"
Haha - I will admit, that was pretty funny
I laughed too! Lol why don't u just get an exchange at Apple Store, I brought my parents iPad 3 in last week and the one i got it exchanged for is perfect. Good luck!!![]()

That's a bad unit for sure.
My white one doesn't have any backlight bleeding, relatively uniform, but still isn't perfect. But it's the best that apple will make with this generation.

the replacement i got after the exchange (exchanged it with a new one) is perfect. no backlight bleeding, no pink tint, no stuttering, not cosmetic defects.
yeah, the screen does look warmer at lower brightness than my iPad 2. do i mind? not really - it's actually easier on the eyes to be honest. it's not yellowed at all, it just looks warmer.
i'm glad i made the upgrade, the screen quality is stellar - i wish real life was this good haha. LTE speeds blow away 3G, in fact they blow away my home broadband FiOS speeds as well.
the one problem i have now is battery life. it drains 1% every hour on standby with screen off and all apps closed. my iPad 2 would last the entire day at work and only drop 1%.
maybe it's an LTE thing...i should try disabling LTE and see if that helps

i bought a brand new DMP last week and it was defective. i exchanged it the next day and got another DMP with a perfect screen. it seems most people are having better luck with DMP's.
the DY's that everyone got in March/April/May people were exchanging half a dozen times
Well I will put it this way, It is Luck, you gotta back your luck to get a good screen iPad. Last I heard was DY has stabilized, but yes way back in March, April, May people were getting it replaced every day.
