If the current 9.7" Pro didn't convince you to upgrade from a dinosaur like the iPad 2 - what is the next Pro going to add to finally make you pull the trigger?

Easy - 4GB of ram + the A10X - literally all I require on top of what the 9.7 pro offers. Wasn't going to pay the price hike to get 2GB of ram for an iPad I plan on keeping for a very long time. Also, had decided anyway to keep my iPad 2 at least till it lost software support, and it still had software support when the Pro 9.7 came out.

But the 5C added truly innovative color plastic to create a boldly earth shattering design! Obviously a new model. ;)
The 5C was a mistake ....

New iPads have been rather boring anyway...no need to rush.

People also don't buy a new one as often as a new phone.

Count me in. As long as my 2nd gen iPad (haha, just read it's a dinosaur) is not left in the dust by iOS updates it will be a long day before I buy another one. (It's a little slower than the new gen, but still very good)

Would like the largest one, but will wait until this size game shakes out.

For me there is no way this can take the place of my MBPs.
So, I don' t consider it a MAC.

I will stick with my iPad Air 2 until no longer gets OS updates .

Both the iPad 2 and Air 2 are in my opinion have been/will be (in terms of the Air 2) been the best iPads in terms of longevity. I'm hoping the Pro 2 (9.7) will also be.

it will be on March or April...i dont think they will release at WWDC ! or maybe the event will be at late March with shipments starting from April

the 9.7" seems to stay almost the same to be the entry level....i think you need to go with the 10.5" to have 4g Ram and A10X

Right, right.... mass production of a single component may not be able to ramp up quickly enough for a Spring release; that's the reason why, in January, these are still in the "planning stage".
Can these analysts hear themselves???!
That doesn't remotely compute.

My wife uses a mini 2 daily and I'd love to upgrade her to a new model, but I am in no way willing to pay for a super outdated mini 4, which was barely an upgrade from the mini 3 as it was. My wife has no interest in a 9.7"+ iPad, since it won't fit in her purse.

Me on the other hand, I'd love a new iPad, but for the love of god get rid of the chamfered edges, it isn't 2012 anymore. It's so boring to look at.

Stop phoning in the design work Apple, you haven't bothered to *really* DESIGN something in years. Just keep recycling the same old crap.

Also add me to the list of people tired of everything being released in the fall.

I know they're planning to bring in the 10.5 and make the 9.7 the entry model, but all I'm saying is I'd be so happy if they just did that and released it by April - would be perfect.

Well, the 10.5" is basically rumored to show a preview of how the screen integrated TouchID & perhaps even wireless charging will look like/operate on the 2017 iPhone, sooooo.... sounds pretty interesting to me. Even if I don't buy one- I won't likely be "bored" by the introduction of some brand new tech!! :)

Guess Apple will focus more on Mac in first-half of 2017

One would hope. The iPad is one of the devices I care the least about having updated with any sort of regularity. They could put it on a 3-year refresh cycle and I do not think it would matter so much.

It might be cool to see those in an iPad. I doubt I'd buy one because I have the 9.7 iPad Pro and it's a bit early to be updating it for those particular specs. But, as a preview to the new iPhone? It sounds interesting.

As long as it comes only in 32GB
