It’s interesting that 33% say that “the iPhones are now
getting too big to handle and hold” and an additional 12% say they are “waiting for a new compact model to be launched”. If this is reasonably accurate, there’s some hope that Apple will eventually listen to it.

How many of those 12% will be the current size anyways? Apple has tried smaller phones and didn't make enough to justify selling them.

I've never had an issue with overheating.
Same here. Started with a 6, then 8, now 13 and never had overheating issues, ever. Warm to the touch, yes. Hot, never. It’s always the extreme minority that gets the press coverage. Why?

I want faster charging. It shouldn’t take 2 hours for my phone to go from 83% to 100%.
The charging slows down in that range on purpose in order to protect the battery.

If I don’t use a fast charger, my phone literally loses power while it is on a normal charger.
When you’re not using it? I think something may be wrong with your unit.

I've never had an issue with overheating.
I was always wondering why the cam app on my 15PM would sometimes feel frozen when I tried to switch between options (e.g.photo -> video).

Just returned from a holiday in a southern country, where the effect got pretty noticeable and the iPhone once even reset on me. During daytime in that holiday, the screen would feel hot to the touch after 1-2 minutes (e.g. surfing, taking pictures/video etc.).

So either you live in a cool region or you had issues, but weren’t aware that your problems originated from overheating (see my example above).

after what they did with the M4 ipad pro , of course everyone wants this or should ask this and for good reasons

lol there are more macbooks, ipads, and apple devices in my house than I can count... In addition to that I leveled up to a 15PM which is the most expensive phone... perhaps you're the poor one who's budget doesn't go past the mini.
Nah, the 15PM is a piece of garbage compared to a 13M. I dare you to use the 13M for a day, you won't go back.

I tried the 15P for a week and gave it away - went back to the 13M and bought another 13M as backup

Wow, so Apple!

1. Release half-baked product with potential issues, tout it goes to 2000 nits of brightness, never tell them at what cost;
2. Buy a “customer satisfaction” ratings and few famous tech bloggers on youtube, make everyone think it is good;
3. Just before releasing next phone, buy another survey and use it to tout new feature;
4. ???
5. People throw their existing phones away and buy new ones;
6. Repeat cycle;
7. Profit

The mini sales numbers would match about a half of those 12% having bought an iPhone mini, and the other half still owning an older compact model or an SE. I know a number of people who still use an SE1 or a 6S or 7.

not sure if this article and headline summarised it well. https://www.sellcell.com/blog/iphone-16-pre-launch-survey/

Why should Apple invest in R&D and tooling for 12% of the customers (half of which won’t walk their talk anyway), when 88% are more or less satisfied with the bigger sizes?

Apple had a mini iPhone for two seasons - and it sold poorly. Why repeat such a mistake?

To be fair, it depends on the when and where. If I'm updating my socials while driving, I'm thinking a 15PM will be safer than trying to use the smaller mini screen. /s

Thought that's an issue I don't care about. Took many photos on a festival in the sun this summer and had my screen dim almost all the time to such a degree that it was much less usable after minutes of use. If that were to be fixed with a better thermal design it'd would be a much welcomed change for me!

I have to wake up at 4 in the morning to go downstairs to my fast charger to make sure I have a full battery to last me through most of the day before I leave the house??
Is there a reason you can't have a fast charger next to your bed, so that you don't need to get up at 4 am?..

When you say "normal charger" do you mean the old 5W USB-A bricks that Apple shipped with iPhones until the iPhone 8 I think? Those are obsolete these days, at least for iPhones. They're still fine for your AirPods, Apple TV remote, watch, etc. You need a "fast charger" for iPhones and iPads.

On my phone, high(ish) ambient temps (around 28-30C) are sufficient to trigger the effect (here: sluggish response in the cam app when switching options), even while in the shadows.
That's interesting. I live somewhere where it's regularly at or over those temperatures during the day for 6 - 7 months of the year and haven't seen any sluggishness unless my phone is in direct sunlight. I currently have a 13 Pro but owned a 12 Pro and other models before and none had thermal issues except in direct sunlight.

Where did you get this 'extreme minority' idea from? It literally says right there in the article that the survey found "26.8% of users hoping for better thermal performance".

I'm not sure what kind of "survey" this is, but I find it awful weird that "thermal design" is one of the most important purchase decisions for the average buyer. Battery life, appearance, and durability were not even survey options. WTF?
Well... overheating can affect battery life quite a bit.

From the numbers I quoted, it’s actually 50% who say that phones are getting too big. The mini is not the only possible form factor to have a phone that is more compact than 6.3” or 6.1”.

You're right, but even when I use that brick it doesn't take 2 hours to go from 83% to 100%))
