I don't know why, but this post made me laugh. :)

I laughed because its true,

people always have such high hopes for the next version of anything Apple, and after every keynote, this message board lights up with people complaining of never being satisfied, yet Apple sells millions of X product.

It seems demonstrative of how every other company significantly underwhelms, while Apply only moderately underwhelms. :p

Only seemed yesterday the iPhone 4 was released. Looking forward to the next iPhone update. :)

* Thinner! With shiny glass back piece - 9.3 mm thick.
* Scratch proof and shatter proof screen
Apple couldn't achieve scratch/shatter proof with their "thick" glass, I highly doubt they'll reduce the amount of glass and make it even more fragile.

* Custom SMS tones
* Custom E-mail alerts with ability to assign different tones to each email address
Apple isn't about choice and customizations, and while I hope they do offer this, its more of an iOS5 update then an iPhone update, i.e., software.

* A new, sleeker body design.
* OLED screen.
Highly doubtful on these two topics, I cannot even call them rumors because so they're so far off from reality. Jobs hates OLED and he's dissed it many times. Add in the fact that HTC ran into serious supply shortages with AMOLED displays and started switching back to the traditional LCDs, this is unlikely. Also apple doesn't change the body design of any of its products very much, so we'll see the same basic body style that we have now. It cost too much money to R&D the current design, retool the manufacturing to produce the IP4, they're not about to bear more expenses to design a new body.

* Wireless sync with iTunes

* Extended battery life = 14 hours talk time on 3G and 7 hours on 4G. Standby 600 hours.
Hard to achieve if apple makes the phone thinner and has room for a battery. Physics come into play at this point, batteries take up a certain about of space and if you reduce that space, you need a smaller batter.

I heard that they are having a problem with the black cases. The front button is hard to manufacture and is getting scratched etc. They finally have white perfected. The new iPhone 5 will only be available in white! Either that or a light pink version. Yea that's what I heard.

:mad:

first of all, no this is not me this was a article i found in the website and second yes there are such a thing as a credible rumor, you may puzzle you're self wen you read this but bear with me for the reason i say credible rumor is wen the rumor comes from a credible source, a source that in rare occasion always hits on the spot wen it comes to rumors that is the reason why websites like macrumors are very selective wen it comes to adding articles to there site not that there will never be a false rumor cause yes rumors are rumors butt there are ways to identify wether a rumor could be plausible or not by following patterns and reading in to the logic the rumor states
:eek: The world's longest run-on sentence....

FYI- the word is "when" not wen

Funny how some think they know what "reality" is. Nobody could have predicted the iP4 covered in glass front and back before the leak of the guy losing a prototype. Or would have guessed that Apple would actually include folders on iOS.

Just to shed some light, if Apple follows suit to what they've done in the past, the only visible fix that could be made would be the supposed antenna issue. As for a major hardware overhaul.....:rolleyes:, that would probably come in the summer.....of 2012.

^^ This will always be the case. For this last go-round (iPhone4) I was really hoping for the 64GB model to surface but it did not. Not a huge thing but would've been nice to have. Pretty sure they'll release the 64GB on their new phone especially considering some of the size(s) of the apps coming out now.

The iPhone 5 is gonna have a dual core procesor?
Yeah wright...

i Must say, I do like the idea
But we will see

It's bin hard to stay away from the iPhone 4 with all the new features and sleek look but i am the kind of person that can wait for the next phone if it is worth it. But i have done some research on the iPhone 5 and i don't see credible rumor sites with any info other than picture parts but i did see a site that listed some hard and soft add ons that sound very god so i wish to see other peoples opinion on these claims and see if all can make some sense to this. Maybe this is plausible maybe not

hear are some of the claims that this website had in there article

* Thinner! With shiny glass back piece - 9.3 mm thick. Plausible

* Face Recognition Security No

* Face Time (Video Chat) access on 3G AND 4G (available currently but only on 3G) I can see FaceTime over 3G/4G

* Custom SMS tones iOS update

* Custom E-mail alerts with ability to assign different tones to each email address Maybe, again, iOS update

* A new, sleeker body design. Not happening

* OLED screen. **** no

* Scratch proof and shatter proof screen Keep on dreaming

* Wireless sync with iTunes No

* 32G (basic) and 64G of memory. You're sure to never run out. I see 16GB for black only and 32/64GB for either white or black

* Extended battery life = 14 hours talk time on 3G and 7 hours on 4G. Standby 600 hours. Very possible

* Hi Definition audio. ...?

* Messaging indicator light. No

* True GPS built in. uhhh, GPS already works just fine...

in the article it also talks about info that macrumors has already rote about regarding Verizon and the iPhone and ATT and there upcoming 4G network and also mentions that the iPhones 5 will carry a dual core processor but doesn't mention anything further.

:)

Well, I still argue it won't be called "iPhone 5", but iPhone 4s or something.

  • From the leaked video I think we can expect a redesigned antenna.
  • Might get a more shatter-proof back.
  • Might get a better battery.
  • Perhaps higher rez cameras.

I think the rest will be software (this could include themes).

They won't change the screen size till next year (if at all).

Thinner but twice the battery? Are you familiar with current battery technologies?

What's sleeker than a thin aluminum frame and two pieces of glass?

FaceTime on cellular networks is not a limitation of the phone, as evidenced by the jailbreak that allows it. It's a limitation of the already strained networks. Carriers may be rolling out their "4g" networks this year, but I would expect it to take at least another year to open up video chat over cellular networks.

This is the kind of break down I was hoping somewon wold post

On the "True GPS" bit - either they don't know what Assisted GPS is, or (more likely) they want a Apple-sponsored built in GPS app more like Navigon, etc, where the maps are already on your phone.

unobtainium

Could they have even thought up a more stupid name than unobtainium?

It's not even really possible to "discover" new elements anyways. Best we can do is to artificially create them in a lab for fractions of a second.
