New iPhone 5 Pre-orders Through Verizon Slip to September 26 Delivery [Update: AT&T at 14-21 Days]

try entering your name in all caps. I also found the issue is sporadic, works sometimes, sometimes not.
 
I ordered from the VZ website at around 9 this morning and 9/21 delivery was still available. I guess they're going pretty fast.

I was finally able to purchase my iPhone 5 through AT&T and it showed a delivery date of the 21st but I'm kinda like others here in thinking that this may not actually be what really happens. We will see.
 
I ordered mine from AT&T.com last night at 12:01a.m. and it will ship on the 21st. Tried ordering one for my gf right after that and the site got locked up or was pointing to a maintenance page. Gave up and went to sleep.

However, I just ordered her a phone this morning at 8:50a.m. (pacific time) and it says it will ship on the 21st. Hope that's true.
 
No numbers available

I thought I'd go through the Verizon pre-order process.

Their web system is so quirky I got into a jam 3 times before getting to the option for selecting a new number or a port.

I selected a new number. It said "No numbers available in [city]; select another city.]" Selected an adjoining city and nada. How do these people sell phones on the web with a process like this?

BTW...I gave up.

My experience is identical to yours. I am a current Verizon subscriber and when I access the My Verizon website now, it still has my old phone listed but says that they can see that I've recently ordered a new device for my line and need to activate it.

However, a record of my order is nowhere to be found via the website. I've tried entering in the order number and preorder confirmation number and the site tells me to make sure I'm entering them correctly. I'm entering them from the order confirmation email I received almost immediately after placing the order at 5 AM EDT.

My guess is the system is just swamped and they're confirming the orders as fast as they can. Seems to be the trend regardless of carrier today.

I've heard conflicting reports on that one. Engadget said that it was a mistake, and that it doesn't come with an adapter. My guess is that it simply comes with a cable, not an adapter.

If you look closely, it just says "as soon as the 21st" so that may not actually be next Friday.

I'm on the east coast, and I'm having the same problem. It also says this on the email, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Please use the Preorder Confirmation number when checking your VerizonWireless.com order status.
 
How about Sprint?

I was finally able to get through on sprints website at about 4:20 am it still said delivery by 9/21 but by then Apples stock had slipped to 2 weeks. This is what sprint sent me in my Order conformation:"We know you are dying to get your hands on it. We'll charge your card today and your iPhone will be waiting for you in our warehouse with your name on it. Excluding extreme circumstances, we'll do our best to get it to you Friday, Sept. 21" anyone hear anything from sprint?

I'd just cancel and re-order if I were you.
 
I checked mine about an hour ago, still said Sept 21st. Now the website is not recognizing my order or preorder number.
 
Just so you know: can't surf and talk at the same time on Verizon

Just so you know: according to news this a.m., one cannot surf the net and talk on iPhone at same time on Verizon (others), as you can on ATT (others).
 
Thanks for the tips guys and good to see I'm not the only one. Now when I try I get a "Page is not currently available" message lol. They must be swamped.

Last year when I pre-ordered the 4s through sprint my order apparently was in lingo and Sprint cancelled it on me "mistakenly" (whatever that meant). Hopefully will avoid that this year :D
