I would hope that Apple would have stock set aside for replacements. I am sure they do for DOA's, although this technically isn't a DOA.

This is indeed the case. Apple Retail sets aside a specific percentage of the overall stock they receive to address these kinds of defect quickly.

OP should go to the store ASAP to see if they can swap it out with a spare.

Update on my iPhone 6, screen looked ok initially.

However, now that it's restoring with a black background, the bottom 1/2 of the display has backlighting issues. Example, waves of white throughout the entire bottom half of the screen. It almost looks like fingerprints, but they aren't.

Anyone else??

I had this same exact type of spot on my iPad 2 when I first got it. Just relax, there's no hurry to get it replaced. You have a 1 year warranty.

I waited a month before I went to the Apple store (the iPad 2 was sold out in my area for a long time when it first came out) and they swamped it out, no questions asked. Just be sure to backup to iTunes before you go to the store, then restore to the replacement when you get home. It was one of the easiest warranty experiences I ever had.

Gotta feeling we will be seeing a ton of screen defects threads on the forums in the coming weeks like when the rMini was released. Should be interesting

Anyways, don't waste time with screen defects. If Apple gives you a new product, it should be like a new product without defects.

Take it back to Apple.

If you return it too late they might give you a refurbished tho

They do, probably not many though :p - not sure if this would warrant a replacement or a repair though.

Also have white dot

My phone 6 also has the white dot on the screen. Took it to the Apple Store. They are replacing the screen, but it takes awhile. I waited for 2.5hrs and left without my phone. In short, they aren't swapping them, which is unfortunate as making a customer wait for hrs for a manufacturing defect repair only adds to the disappointment.

First time I've heard about a replaced display

I seriously think most iPhones have screen issues.

Either

1. Yellow tint

2. darkness along top

3. these white dots

or

4. non-uniform color

I have gone through 2 phones already one with problem 2 and one with problem 4. My third phone has problems 3 and 2, but it's altogether better than the other ones. So, I'm just going to keep it.

I really don't think getting it replaced once is going to help. Maybe if you go through a dozen replacements or something you'll eventually find a good screen.

Check this out where many people are going through tons of replacements all with issues.

You forgot to add dead pixel, dust inside glass, backlight bleed. :p

Picked up an i6 Standard, White, 64G at ATT this morning. It was new in the box. During setup, I noticed what I thought was a screen defect, and can now confirm it. From the upper left corner of the screen, about 1 inch down, and an eight of an inch into the screen, there is a whiter that white "spot" on the screen. It is most noticeable with a white background, where the spot appears whiter than the white background. It is not visible with an all black screen. It is not a single pixel (could never see that), but a relatively round grouping of pixels. Also not a typical LCD stuck pixel. Its like a small grouping of pixels are driving white too hard.

I'll break out my Macro lens and post some pictures in a few. Hopefully this is a very isolated case!

Update - Uploaded some pictures. They don't do it justice. It is much more noticeable to the naked eye.

I will probably wait for the stores to settle down and get it replaced.

I have the same issue with my iPhone 6, and I would like to ask you if that white dot can be a problem with the pics a I take with the camera of my iPhone. I mean, does the withe dot interfere with the pics I take??. Thank you.

Old thread, but I just noticed I have a white spot on my 6s plus. How much of a hassle is it to get it fixed at the Apple Store? Is it a screen replacement or new phone?

Trying to see if it's actually worth it.
