iPhone8

A handful of images have emerged this morning claiming to show the upcoming iPhone 8 with rear-placed Touch ID. The images come from Chinese site iPhoneros and are the clearest look yet at a design that has seemingly been at least prototyped by Apple…

One iPhone 8 aspect that continues to lack consensus is where Apple will place the Touch ID sensor. Some reports have claimed that Touch ID will be located beneath the iPhone 8’s display, while others have said it will be placed on the back due to manufacturing difficulties.

I don't know about the touchID on the back, but I'm pretty confident this is what the rear camera and the front of the device will look like in the final production model.

Please no. It seems so uneven and un-apple like with the touch id randomly thrown below the Logo.

I like to believe that the reason Apple did not go bezlefree earlier was to make sure they do not have to follow the scanner on the back trend and actually show off something new and "innovative" again. However i have yet to even see a prototype of a finger print scanner under a screen

this looks like what the 7s and 7s plus will be this year and then next year we will have the 8 which will have the touch id in screen.

From the front it looks soooo much like white galaxy s4 from years ago.... ugh!

If the FPS is on the back of the phone, anybody buying this phone will feel pretty dumb the following year when the FPS moves back to the front.

So who wants to be in the smart camp? :D

I really like the FPS being on the back, I find it a lot more intuitive than on the front. It looks like it's exactly where you place your finger when you take the phone out of your pocket.

Even if they place touch ID on the back of the iPhone, . I think it's just an irregularity that a lot of iPhone users are not subjected to with having the home button on the front of the iPhone after all these years. It's just an adjustment some will succumb to and others will refuse to purchase because of it.

Seems like a really awkward way to authenticate an Apple Pay transaction.

No chance

What if this is the new iPhone and iPhone Plus and the "edge-to-edge" one with the cutout in the screen is the iPhone Edition.

There have been no 7S leaks, so maybe there won't be a 7S and this one will be the regular model, whereas the one with Touch ID under the screen will be the expensive one.

Ive said it before and I will say it again. I will not buy it if the TouchID is on the back. It makes it 100% worthless to me. Cant use it on a table or desk, it will need a really ugly case with a hole in the center. No thank you. I've owned every generation iPhone since the 3G, but will not buy this.

This is very believable as the real deal. A little disappointed as I was hoping the next iteration would sway me from my S8. Regardless, Apple is all about incremental updates so one shouldn't expect too much. :)

I actually find all this TouchID stuff funny. Last year people were writing off the 7 as a 6SS and they were so sure that the 8 would be the GodPhone that gave us everything we wanted. Now these conflicting rumors are causing a bit of a frenzy :p

It's fake. The font for the word iPhone is off. Especially the "P". Still hoping for the scanner built into the display

Is this that iPhone fake clone emerged just one week ago or so? Based on rumors we have right now. I don't think this is real.

It's a little sad that the only thing I care about is knowing if there's a 3.5mm port or not. I suppose not, because "progression" or something

Haha if it does have it on the back it better not cost $1000 I doubt many people will buy if it does. You'll have the few hardcore Apple fanboys. But most won't. I personally will jump to the note 8 which Is suppose to have the fps under the display. I will also jump to the note 8 if we don't get a dark mode.

You make a good point about the cases. I do think they would be aesthetically unpleasing and unlocking the iPhone would certainly be cumbersome if it was laying on its back. Personally, I think the touch ID button placement is highly controversial and It just seems very non-traditional of Apple to opt for remapping the button to the back. I still remain confident it will be embedded in the Display and this iPhone photo is a fake from my view.

This is most likely the new iPhone, or very very close to it. It matches the sample models of phones like the 7 and 7 Plus that were showen 2 or 3 months before release and nobody believed those to be real, and yet they were 99% bang on.

Interesting how people above have suggested this as the 7S. I doubt it but you never know, it could be. I mean I still don't believe any S model will be launched this year.

You must be new here :) lol

99% of these people that say it won't sell well/they won't buy/touch ID on the back is stupid are going to buy it.

When Apple first introduced touch ID on the iPhone, this forum was filled with threads about how it wouldn't work, Apple would steal the fingerprint etc etc
