I hope they don't have the Touch ID on the back. I would prefer it's built into the screen.

If the FPS is on the back of the phone, anybody buying this phone will feel pretty dumb the following year when the FPS moves back to the front.

So who wants to be in the smart camp? :D

You mean it will make you feel dumb. because I can only speak for myself and I can assure it won't make me feel that way.

Seems like a really awkward way to authenticate an Apple Pay transaction.

No chance

It’s meant to be used with your forefinger, not thumb. Without fail - every time I hold my phone and use my thumb on current home button my forefinger is exactly where shown on this pic. I’m excited by the change as it provides a larger screen in a smaller device

I really like the FPS being on the back, I find it a lot more intuitive than on the front. It looks like it's exactly where you place your finger when you take the phone out of your pocket.

I actually would keep a better grip on my 7Plus with a FPS on the back. Every time I use Apple Pay or unlock my phone while using one handed, I have to grip really low on the phone and have almost 'squeezed' the phone out of my grip.

This is exactly what I mean, the FPS on the front is out of reach when you take the phone out of your pocket with one and have to unlock it using one hand! I know that I shouldn't be doing it when driving, but this is the best example I have, this way I don't look at the phone even for one second, I just take it out of my pocket and it is already open!!!
You got exactly what I meant Steve. Thanks!!!!

Putting the FPS on the back is advantageous in some ways...still doesn't change the fact that -if- it does debut on the back for this year's redesign, it's still going back to the front, the next year.

If you are a yearly phone updater...then, no worries. If you are not, then some choices will have to be made.

Either way, doesn't affect me...I like my 6s just fine. :D

By putting it on the front, does it have to keep the same general position as the physical button FPS?

Basically I am asking if Apple can locate the sensor in the exact center of the screen. For me......and of course not for everyone.....that would help me manipulate my grip on the phone much less while using the phone one-handed.

Looks fake. Seems very likely we'll get a glass body on the iPhone 8 not this aluminum one. Looks way to similar to the last 3 years.

I must be some kind of wizard...

I've been pulling my iPhone out of my pocket with my thumb on the front home button for years. And the phone is unlocked before I even see it. I've done this since the iPhone 5S.

And with the home button on the front... I can also unlock my iPhone if it's laying on the table.

Two points for front fingerprint sensors!

Nice pointing that out my dear friend Gandalf. A wizzard you are. For me it just comes a lot more natural to have the fingerprint on the back!
