New iPhone Ads: 'Lonely Planet', 'Cro Mag', 'Vicinity'

Every time I click on the link, or attempt to view them through the Apple website, Safari crashes on my MacBook. Anyone having the same problem?

Yip I can't get to that page at all, loads half way, and Safari crashes!
Anyone know if it works ok in IE, that'd be a joke :p

Ever since I first downloaded Safari onto my PC several months ago, the Quicktime videos on the Apple website will only work if I am using Safari. The videos do not work with Firefox. Is this a violation of antitrust laws?
I normally use Firefox, but now I have to specially open Safari just to watch the videos on the Apple website. Note to Apple: I like your company less because of this.

It would be a violation of antitrust laws if it was deliberate ploy by Apple. But as the Safari installer doesn't touch the Firefox binary or any of it's settings and on Vista the Quicktime plugin works with all the major browsers I'd suggest there is a problem with your PC.

Look at why Firefox and Quicktime are not working together. That is your issue. Your problem is not some strange conspiracy you have made up in your head about Apple being anti-competitive.

For all those people who say Safari is crashing:

[A] Which version do you have?
Do you have add-ons/plugins?

Then we can try and work out what is causing the problem.

I highly doubt Apple would set pages free without making sure they run well on Safari. I was also able to access the pages without a hitch.

Crashes Safari 3.1.2., on my Powerbook running 10.5.4. It works in Firefox.

I'm using Inquisitor and AdBlock.

Edit: no problem when AdBlock's turned off.

I'm using Safari 3.1.2 with no add-ons or plugins. The first time I went to view the ads, it worked. The second time however, it kept crashing safari repeatedly. So I reset Safari (all the history, cache, cookies, etc.) , but it still didn't work. I had to restart my computer for it to work.

So it is caused by browser plugins. I don't have any other plug ins installed on my MBP running the latest Leopard other than Flip4mac and other quicktime plugins. The page loaded fine for me.

I'm on 10.5.4 and Safari 4 Developer Preview (Sign up for a free developers account if you want it — very stable).

I imagine it is the plugins causing the problems.

i'm not really a fan of any of these commercials. they do a good job of describing the functionality of the iphone, but other than that, they don't leave me with the sense of humor or artistic expression most of their commercials have. i'd give these a B-.

I have walked by that cafe they show in the ad. I think this is the first time I have seen Los Angeles used in an iphone ad.

it kept crashing on my imac too. so i read through all these comments and i got it to load by going into safari preferences and unchecked enable plugins under security. but now the ads won't play!! :(

EDIT: after the page loaded i went back to preferences and re-checked enable plugins and clicked on the ads and they worked!!! :)

Safari keeps crashing for me too....

Yes, it's a plugin issue, but not from a Safari plugin... rather, a Quicktime one. My Safari is completely clean and updated... nothing funky about it. Backtrace in the crash log implies Quicktime combined with Carbon are creating the issue. Looking further into it...

****ing Carbon though... I've been very unhappy with Leopard's stability... but it's always caused by either a Carbon app or the AD2P driver. >_< ARHILFGSLIDHS:HDYSIUHF GOD DAMMIT APPLE. RELEASE 2.1 FOR THE IPHONE AND THEN IGNORE IT FOR A WHILE TO FIX LEOPARD

Continued...

Removed all my Quicktime Plugins... ads worked.
Added the plugins back in one by one... ads still worked >_<
Now I can't make Safari crash when I want it to.

who cares? the phone doesn't work...

this apple product totally sux.. mail is impossible without landscape mode. the battery drains in the car sometimes and sometimes not if left plugged in and everything is dogship slow...really ..there is so much potential but this phone is in beta stage at best....and Mobileme is a disgrace.. the problems are just endless. going back to a blackberry as soon as the bold is in.

Doesn't crash on Leopard/safari or vista/firefox 3 for me
I don't really like most apple ads, but these ones are still ok, I wonder when they are going to start the "Hi, I'm an iPhone" "Hi, I'm a Blackberry" "What are you doing Blackberry?" "I'm working, it's boring" "If you were an iPhone, working would be fun!" type of ads.

"Apple of Death" Commercial

Love how the commercial show's how the app crashes over wifi or over my itunes and you get stuck on the "apple of death screen!" Oh wait...they didn't show this??? How come Apple??? End of MY commercial..."This is when you realize that your iphone is worse then any microsoft product out there today!" Thanks, Apple!
