I initially lit on this thread with the intent to bash some bad parent spoiling their kid, and then I thought to when I was 11. I have always been damn responsible and careful of expensive items, I see no reason why his son can't be either.
I'm curious as why we keep seeing threads about people wanting to tell everyone what phone they bought.
What gives them the idea that any one else cares what they purchase?
Apparently you care enough to take the time to post a reply to it rather than just ignoring it and moving on!
So why aren't you posting this in an Android forum then?
Because now his initial post has opened the door to the quote below, which enables us to SHARE our joy with you!!
What a lot of people are asking for is, what are these "better features" of an Android phone that you keep saying. A lot of us are interested in talking tech and differences and comparisons deeply, than just saying "better features; period." This is a tech forum and we would love to discuss more about these features that Abdroid does better than iPhone.
What we are looking for are things like this, for example, one better feature: the new Google maps that are on Android 4.1
I like how we can see the insides of buildings right from the maps app.
Apple 's new maps don't have that.
We would like detailed comparisons between the two devices, so we can all understand why x product is better than y product.
For myself I have to admit, viewing EVERYTHING on the screen is much better (went to the SSGS3 recently myself).
The ability to change everything from ringtones, wallpaper, keyboards etc easier than my iPhone4 and at no cost to me (well, other than the Thumb Keyboard).
What also pleases me is being able to see what resources my handset is using, and this goes beyond looking at the apps in the app tray.
I find it a pleasure to use the phone. The buttons are larger, the giant face that pops up when it rings showing you who it is in the photo is nice also. I like the LED notifications that let me know there is a message waiting for me.
Reading text off of RSS feeds and the web are much more pleasurable.
I have had no lag, latency or stutters.
I like that I just have to pull down the message notification and I have quick access to settings such as WIFI etc and don't have to dive through 3-4 menues to get to it.
When I use the phone it is large enough that I can cant it a bit away from my face and not get my damn skin oils all over the screen like I did with the iPhone. Small but still nice fact to not have to wipe down my phone after every conversation.
The speaker is much better than the iP4, It is much louder and when I text etc my fingers don't accidentally seal off the sounds.
Comparing the settings to SSGS3 and iP4 the settings go deeper into more options on how to make your phone work from simple things to when you want your wifi to connect to your phone and when you want BT to be used. Just some small examples but this goes from everything from apps, to general settings, to email settings etc.
There are some things I am not as pleased about, but that wasn't the question asked

Either way for me, time will tell if it becomes as trusty a device as my old iP4 did. In reliability and longevity.
