I'm having a hard time figuring out why someone would want this phone. It's less expensive, sure, but it's also smaller, etc... *shrug*
It is quite simple. People have different needs and wants.

Slip to May? Lmao. Just go but an iPhone 7 or or 8
Apple began accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone SE on Friday morning, and hours later, delivery estimates for the device have slipped to the first week of May in the United States for any color, storage, and carrier combination.

The new iPhone SE remains available for Friday, April 24 launch day delivery in some other countries, including Australia and the United Kingdom.
While the extended shipping estimates could be interpreted as a sign of strong demand, there is simply no way of knowing how many iPhone SE units that Apple stockpiled before announcing the device, especially since the global health crisis significantly disrupted the company's supply chain in February and part of March.
The new iPhone SE can be pre-ordered on Apple.com in the United States and more than 40 other countries and regions. Pricing starts at $399 for 64GB of storage, with 128GB and 256GB options available for $449 and $549 respectively.
The second-generation iPhone SE has a similar design as the iPhone 8, including a 4.7-inch display and a Touch ID home button, but it has a faster A13 Bionic chip. Other features of the device include a single-lens 12-megapixel Wide rear camera with Portrait mode support, wireless charging, IP67-rated water resistance, and Wi-Fi 6.

Paying more for older tech etc. when you can get something cheaper that will meet your needs with updated tech is not very logical.Slip to May? Lmao. Just go but an iPhone 7 or or 8
Some people, like me, prefer a home button. And some folk, like my wife, could not care less one way or another. Obviously there is a market for a phone with a home button, or at least a market for home button tolerance, otherwise people would not be ordering this phone.I'm someone who uses both mobile OSs without fanboying (they both have their pros and cons) and was looking for a cheap Apple phone this year. This phone looks great, even though it has a home button... What were they thinking? Anyways, I may pick one up... Once Goldman can verify my identity. Which may never be the case.
Wait, you’re saying you can talk on these things? What’s the app for that?Same. 99% of my phone usage is talk and text.
Clearly they were thinking ahead - this phone you can unlock without removing your CDC-recommended face mask. This phone looks great, even though it has a home button... What were they thinking?
That describes me to a T since the SE is going to replace my flip-phone/iPod Touch combo. I would love to see an iPhone the same size and weight as an iPod Touch but think that's ever going to happen.Initially, it was the size that made me hesitate - not because it’s smaller, but because it’s bigger than my current iPhone SE. I run a lot, and smaller is better for that.
Rather than being “less expensive” and “smaller”, the new SE is both “more expensive” and “bigger” than I’d like but, in the end, I ordered one because I know it’s going to be the only iPhone that’s ever likely to be affordable to me.
It’s either this iPhone, or no iPhone. That’s my reason to buy.

For older folks like my mother-- the physical home button is a plus. Trying to explain how to reset a iPhone with no home button would be a challenge.
I ordered Saturday afternoon for my mother in law from Verizon, black 128gb and it shows to arrive on the 24th. I wish I had gone ahead and bought her case and screen protector earlier in the week though because Amazon doesn't show those items to ship until early May now.
So do I go ahead and give her the phone or wait? Didn't trade her old SE so I guess it doesn't matter.
Tough call. My mom could figure out a way to kill any phone, cased or not. What was weird is that she never dropped and broke a phone. It was always other ways of destruction. She washed, and dried her iPhone. The weird part was it survived the experience and was working, but wouldn't respond to the screen. I was shocked that it survived. She wanted a new iPhone, but I got her the 'low dollar' replacement through AT&T. That one didn't survive a toilet dive...🌊
Sorry you had to spend so much time to respond to my one line response. Shows how much it means to you. Take care.I will never understand what the point is for this kind of post. Is this supposed to shame us into not talking about Apple products on a Mac enthusiast site? What is your goal with this post?
I'm sure there are coronoavirus forums out there. You can post there. HOWEVER, this forum is for Mac based discussion which is why we're here talking about an iPhone. Must we only talk about coronavirus 24/7? If I want that, I can just turn on the tv.
I actually prefer to NOT discuss it 24/7. So I'm glad we have new Apple products to talk about. I guarantee that most of us can acknowledge bad things are happening in the world and still be able to post about new Apple products.
Thanks for your support, Cloros. Was watching the news showing the mile long line and was surprised to see late model BMW's and Mercedes waiting in line.

Its a rumor site and the ongoing Pandemic does affect everyone and everything including apple which ultimately affects everyone posting on this forum. I'm sure there is a site you can post on like livingunderarock.com or denial.com
it took me 30 seconds to type that out. no problem for me. your one line response was so pathetic that I just had to respond. take care.Sorry you had to spend so much time to respond to my one line response. Shows how much it means to you. Take care.

Plus it has TouchID with modern innards. That’s the point. It’s smaller.
what was your goal telling us there's more important things to worry about on a MAC Rumors site? You do know this forum is about Mac hardware and software correct? I couldn't find a coronavirus forum anywhere. Perhaps start a thread on Reddit?Same with me. You appear to be looking in the mirror. Take care.
Keep going, my friend.Yes, you’re my friend. Take care, be safe.what was your goal telling us there's more important things to worry about on a MAC Rumors site? I'm certain the majority on here would rather talk about Mac stuff. You're the latest to join my ignore list. I'm trying to improve my experience on this site and whenever I see stupidity, my list grows. Congrats!
Very true. Apple trying to squeeze every last penny from us. Nothing new.It is quite simple. People have different needs and wants.
