Sure it would, it is just that Apple is very unlikely to put so much effort into their cheapest device, risking to damage sales of 12 mini, for example.

The SE2 outsold the mini and all other models except the flagship. They sold over 21 million units of the SE2 last year. It was the number two selling smartphone across all manufacturers.

Wow! Didn't realize that. Kind of squelches the idea that the SE form factor must be replaced. I guess those of us that hang out on tech sites can easily misread what typical or average consumers are looking for in a device.
