This makes the April event rumors even more likely. So the April event will cover the SE, iPad Air, and maybe something else...

The iPhone Mini chassis would be a perfect SE chassis. The SE is now an 8 year old design, and it shows. And adding 5G to a phone with subpar battery already sounds like a great idea…
Unfortunately, the iPhone mini chasis cannot be used for a low end iPhone yet. It is still a flagship device. Maybe after several years of revenue, it will be possible to use the iPhone mini body and features for an iPhone SE. You just can’t take an 800€ iPhone and start selling it at 400€, Apple doesn’t work that way

There will not be an SE this year. It will be refreshed next year 2023, with the 13 mini design.
wrong, there are rumours already about being in production
Stop miss-leading, or come here with proof / rumour that says that next year the SE will happen and not this year
In 2023 rumours are saying about an SE plus, thats all

Apple suppliers will begin producing display panels for the third-generation iPhone SE this month
Does this mean that iPhone SE 2022 will have different panels than the current SE 2020? Maybe there’s still hope for slightly taller displays...

Apple 5G SE model starting panel production this month. Phone production likely from March.

Since the screen size of this SE 2022 is rumoured to be exactly the same as SE 2020, can’t they use the same panels as they use now with SE 2020? I mean, they have the panels being produced for SE 2020 already, so what’s so special about these new ones?
Exactly, this is what I was thinking about.

Me. I've owned both versions of the SE because I use my phone for making calls, sending texts, and looking at women with big butts when I'm on the toilet. I don't need an expensive phone with a massive screen for that.
Well, that depends on how big are those butts... Maybe you could use a bigger screen for even bigger butts...

No wonder why my SE order from apple store is backordered until feb.

Who even wants this phone I don’t see any place for it, shame on apple keeping such a dated phone out for this long and 5g isn’t needed it’s not even faster for me than 4g

Are you like 15? Learn some perspective. It's a $400 iphone. Lots of people on a budget who don't want to be stuck on android (green bubbles) buy it. And its also popular with parents and older people who dont need the latest and greatest and just want to facetime with their kids and answer calls/texts. And its popular as a corporate phone because its cheap and simple and iOS

Dang  Same design as the previous year iPhone SE. I was really hoping Apple would adopt the iPhone Mini design factor for 2022, iPhone SE. Since iPhone 14 might be getting a total re-design why not the SE.

Gotta believe that, in order to maintain the low(er) price point they need use a design/components whose R&D and other ancillary costs have long been paid off. It might come off as boring or dated to some while others are perfectly fine with it.

I suppose it's possible that a 2023 or 2024 SE might adopt the Mini's chassis, if not its exact design, along with a fingerprint sensor in the power button since by then the cost of R&Ding those components and their related machining and assembly processes will be fully vested.

If they were to adopt the Mini's design for a 2022 SE, I can't see the price remaining at $399 USD.

Then again, I've been wrong before. I thought the Cowboys were gonna win this past Sunday.

Ross Young is building quite the reputation for himself. And in a good way with his consistency.

FaceID constantly failing is making me want to throw my iPhone across the room. Then I quickly remember I spent almost $1.5K on this sucker!
Mine is also constantly failing. It’s driving me nuts. I had two different iPhone 13 models and it’s the same problem on both of them. So I know know it’s not a one-off.

Like every 1 in 5 attempts results in me having to input my password or try again. I’m having to reposition my face all the time. It’s especially bad if I have my iPhone 13 Pro on a stand positioned slightly below eye level.

It’s beyond annoying at this point. Touch ID always worked. It was extremely reliable, much quicker, and a lot more convenient. I miss it so much that I will be ditching my iPhone 13 Pro for the new SE when it’s out.

iPhone 13 Pro is a great phone, but it has too many bells and whistles that I simply don’t use. Never once used two of the three cameras, for instance. Such a waste of money now that I think about it after having owned it for several months.

The iPhone SE was the second-best selling smartphone of 2021 across all manufacturers and models. Apple sold 21 million units…

24.2 million units in 2020/2021…

Oh I understand and don’t at all expect Apple to do that. But I stand by the Mini being a perfect chassis for an SE. make it LCD, remove FaceID, add TouchID to the power button like the iPad Air, and watch how many phones they’d sell. It would be an instant hit.

Yeah, that would be really awesome. I try to be realistic because... well, we know Apple, but many of us think that a mini with Touch ID would be really awesome, and it would make the perfect SE.

Actually, while I had the 13 mini, I compared it side by side to my old iPhone SE 2016, and the 13 mini looks like a slightly bigger iPhone SE. Really cute. It is a pity that Face ID and the pandemic masks don't mix well, otherwise I would have kept it.

We'll see what Apple delivers in April. Ross Young is one of the most accurate leakers out there, and he says same 4,7" display as the current SE 2020. But I would be happy with a tad taller screen to be honest. Let's hope at least for a bigger battery.

IMO, this is not the right time for Iphone 5G SE yet (atleast in India). Hear me out, INDIA DOESN'T HAVE 5G YET. AND THERE ARE MORE THAN 500 PHONES WITH 5G CAPABILITY. IS IT WORTH THE WAIT ?

I kinda agree. Sort of. I doubt a new SE already, too. But I'd also doubt a "recent" model design, tho. SE is generally for the "lower cost parts we scrape out of the bin" (so no FaceID, and TouchID in the power button is too new and sexy for a low price device).

That isn't meant to be disparaging, either. I still use my 2016 SE and love it.

Nothing indicates that India would receive 5G, this article is obviously referring to its main stream rollout regions that would be the first to receive the SE. FYI…Apple staggers their releases in waves.

I can hope for another Memorial Day special from T-Mobile. Paying $0.00 monthly has been awesome.

Right now, the $16.67 monthly discount is still being applied even though they’re not charging $16.67 after the end of the lease.

Is that the reason why there aren’t many SE’s in store?

How many do you need? ? It’s a niche product and not exactly flying off the shelves, so Apple stores are probably just saving themselves some space. If you need it fast, you could try carrier stores or any third party sellers.

TouchID is really great and still is more reliable than faceid, especially with masks.
For me, it isn’t the TouchID so much as having a “Home” button. Easy access to, well, the home page without multiple swipes to do the same thing. Also the single-press button works better in the cold, works wearing gloves, it just works. And it’s a single simple reliable action.
