I was at my local Apple Store today with a friend that just enjoys asking the staff when the new iPhone is coming out. Of course even if they knew, they wouldn't say. We all know that.

However, I thought if they were rolling something this big out wouldn't they have blocked out the Genius Bar appointments for tomorrow? They would be too busy wrapping up new sales and activating phones. So as soon as I got home I made an appointment for late afternoon, for this Monday. Sure enough, I was able to make an appointment. In fact most of the day was wide open for appointments.

So unless I get an e-mail from Apple that my appointment is cancelled I guess the actual roll-out of new hardware is in the future. Well at least I'll have a shot at the Genius Bar should 3.0 frag my iPhone ;)

When the iPhone 3G was released, the apple store I worked at still held genius appointments as usual. Im hoping for a new iphone soon, but im not holding my breath for tomorrow. As far as employees, we didnt know anything about the 3G until a few days before release. We had to read a training and sales manual, but no actual 3Gs were in store. We did get the shipment the night before launch, and were allowed to play with them the night before. We'll see!

New iPhone hasn't been cleared with the FCC. That process takes a minimum of 30 days. No new phones tomorrow.

I can promise you the new iPhone has already been reviewed by the FCC. Just like last year, Apple has put in a request for the little known FCC policy that prevents ANYTHING from being released about the product until the product launches. The FCC is required to make public the documentation on the device at or prior to the release of the device to consumers. There's also another policy dealing with trademarks, not overly familiar with it, that Apple can request parts of the document to remain sealed even after release.

New iPhone will be using the same radio as the 3g.

That is not true! Will it be similar, yes! It is different, just wait and see what Broadcom has in store for the new iPhone. When iFixit.com takes apart the new iPhone, you'll see it's not the same radio.

It seems as if some people mistakenly navigate here believing they have reached macfacts.com. Take everything with a grain of salt peoples.

I am really hoping to see 3.0 available tomorrow... but I doubt it.

Slight correction: the privacy policy is quite well known. Apple makes use of it a lot, as do others.

The FCC submittal for the 3G S, including the privacy request, can be found here, btw.
