Some change is needed. I ran into a wake-up call today with my iPad. The USB 2 ports on a cheapo PC aren't powerful enough to charge the new iPad. I doubt the iPhone would have this trouble, but it is likely to have a battery that needs more juice than the 4S.

There's no good reason NOT to support it since new Macs are now coming with it.

Your misunderstanding the benefits of usb3.0. They do not offer "faster" charging times but faster transfer speeds. If you're using a non-apple computer to charge your iPad via USB then yes charge times will be horrendously slow - especially with the new iPad.

This is a cause of the amperage output. It's been said apple computers; iMac, MacBook, etc have circuitry inside their cables/dock that detect one another thus bumping amp output accordingly.

The concept is no different when trying to charge your iPad via cigarette adapter.

I would be surprised if the new sync cord doesn't support USB 3.0 since they took all the time and effort to make a new connector. It would be shortsighted if they didn't plan for the future by not including USB 3.0.

Apps, pictures, and almost everything is getting larger so it would make a lot of sense for Apple to prepare for the future with faster data transfer speeds that USB 3.0 can provide.

Since almost every computer has USB, whether it's 2.0 or 3.0 and 3.0 is backwards compatible, I don't see much of a downside of having USB 3.0. It would be very disappointing if Apple didn't include USB 3.0.

Actually, USB 3 offers both:

Don't know if it's faster than Apple's high-powered USB 2 ports though.

How many people actually use tethered syncs any more?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for speculation and discussion, I just can't remember the last time I actually plugged in my iPad to sync, so I can't imagine doing so when I actually get an iPhone. Just my thoughts.

well I know one thing if the next gen iPhone does support USB 3.0 it will probably have a next gen processor since none of samsungs current A9 processors support 3.0
