I realized last year that I don't need a new phone every year (or 2 years) just to send off texts/email/youtube and light social media. And it's not like my 7 plus automatically stops taking quality photos.

It's a sad world we live in where people need to blow $1000 every year to text their friends or view their social media.

Ever since last year, when iPhone hit the $1000 mark, people's interest in purchasing the latest phones have declined. Visually, I don't see a lot of people, at my gym, on the streets, at work, with an X. Generally, I see people holding onto their 6's and 7's - it does get the job done.
Yes I notice that here in the UK stock on all latest iPhone all in stock next day shipping I remember the iPhone 6 we had to wait over 5 weeks.
People have lost interest guessing due to high contract/phone prices.

Maybe not worth it for you. I'm very pleased with my new Xs Max. Worth every penny.

Hate to break it to you, but your experiences are not shared with the rest of the world. Many of millions of people will find them very worthwhile.

Have a nice day. Go outside. Enjoy life.

These are just useless posts that show what an utterly disconnected species we have become because of these devices.

Use your 6S, get an XS, whatever but get on with life and not spread misery.
what color XR should i get? lol /s

I would agree. I see the X, but its definitely not the ‘Norm.’ I typically see the iPhone 7/7Plus. I think consumers are generally content with the current tech and the Moto Being for some “My Phone works fine, why do I need to upgrade.” I think the current prices are somewhat of a ‘turn off’, even with subsidization. I appreciate new tech, but most consumers are not generally as interested as we are on here.

I know this is just an opinion of one man. I was using 6s for 3 years. Now I have Max. I have to say that in terms of my experience it is a step backwards. Big, heavy. There is nothing that this phones does better for me. People talk about OLED and even though it is nice, it is really nothing special.
All in all, wasted money. It is nicer to reach out to 6s. Can use it with 1 hand. You do not notice, do not make it an effort to use it. It is just there.
The phone is amazing, I just hate that it had to get heavier, noticeably heavier too. Its the one thing that sucks about it.

Same. I honestly think the Xr is gonna change that though.

I haven't seen too many people here in the Twin Cities with X/Xs phones since they were released, but I was in NYC a couple weeks ago and it seems like everyone had one.

In any regard, I just today upgraded my wife's SE with a display that is popping out to an Xs, and she's really happy with it. But is it worth $1000, even coming from an SE? I'm not so sure. Don't get me wrong, it's a gorgeous phone, excellent build quality, and I like the heft of it. But once it was set up and stuck in its new silicone case, it's basically business as usual, except maybe the substantial camera upgrade over the SE. Otherwise it's more or less the same in day to day use. The jury is still out for me personally, but she got the upgrade because she just plain needed one and she wanted the smallest (current) phone she could get, so between Xs, Xr, or Xs Max, the Xs won.

I like new tech in general. Have two macbook. I am into photography, so have about 20k worth of Canon gear and try to buy things that do make a difference. Iphone 5s was great, 6s was great - they made a difference. I purchased Xs Max but continue to use 6s. It hapenned for the first time in my life that I have new tech that I do not want to touch:
1. Bulky and heavy
2. Impossible to use with one hand
3. No practical difference in speed of using apps or internet
4. Weird screen ratio
So fo the first time I see something being a lot more expensive and be a step backwards when it comes to experience and comfort of using. I cannot comprehend how people might like it, but do respect those who do.

@Kulfon can I ask why you went the Max route instead of the regular XS if one handed use was important? Is it not too late for you to return it and get the regular one — for once Apple has finally had two models where they are pretty much the same functionally except for screen/battery.
I wish I could return, but we do not have same policy as US.

Weight is another reason I just put a new battery into my 7. I don’t want a larger, heavier phone. My phone is lighter than any X period. Size and weight are important to me. I want the phone to be mobile, light weight, and certainly don’t want dimensions larger than a 7. If I want to “watch” anything substantial, I’ll do it in a 49” or 73” screen at home. Phablets aren’t my wheel house. I’ll use my 7 until it isn’t supported any longer or they make what I want. I was ready to upgrade this year and said meh. Hopefully the new IPP will be a substantial improvement over mine. And it’ll cost less than a new iPhone :D

Smartphones have reached maturity. An iPhone 6s does the same things as the new iPhones. Next evolution is foldable screens.
Foldable screens are the next evolution about as much as curved screens were. The screen still needs to be attached to the hardware, limiting what can be done. Foldable screens don't really matter when the battery, camera, processor chip can't be folded.

The reviews have been in, and they are stellar for the new iPhones. Don't like them? then you don't have to buy one lol.

Nope, I am using a Pixel 2 XL.

But yet you can't help, but come into this forum and call those that enjoy using Apple products sheep! People can buy whatever they want, just like you bought the Pixel from the world leading seller of personal data that they sell to the highest bidder. Some of us choose not to do business with Google, but for those that want too, GREAT! I don't have a stupid name to call you! Though I did hear some other idiot use the term Fandroid! That is just as dumb!

Did you return it then? Sounds like the sensible option?

Marketing hype
It's not marketing hype when they make a phone that hits the top on benchmarks.
Displaymate gave the Max the best display on a Smartphone too.

The 14 day return policy means people can take them back if not happy.

Except cellular and WiFi reception, you know, the phone stuff.
