Who exactly is being freaked out by the new camera holes? Who is CNN talking about?
No one has yet to be photographed by one no less using one of these phones. Except for beta testers of course.
So who is CNN talking about, the beta testers? Were they freaked out by this stuff?
A small percentage of people suffer from tryrophobia (fear of holes clustered together). Some people with that issue are having a problem with the iPhone camera layout, that's pretty much it. It's not that big of a deal.

How does one even develop such a phobia? It just sounds like the most absurd thing ever. I mean, most phobias at least make SOME sense; like arachnophobia because spiders can bite you with venom, or acrophobia because falling can kill you.

It does sound weird, but phobias in general are irrational and don't seem to make sense.

Some reasoning on why holes bother people:

"Researchers have come up with a few possible explanations for trypophobia.

The intense reaction might be a way to protect yourself from danger. Some of the most poisonous animals on the planet -- like the king cobra, puffer fish, and poison dart frog -- have hole-like patterns on their skin. Those patterns are like the ones that bother people who have trypophobia.

Deadly diseases such as measles and smallpox cause circular skin rashes. Trypophobia could be a reaction that humans have developed to avoid getting sick."

It's not classified as real phobia (it started as a board meme) but many people definitely react with uneasiness or disgust to those pictures. If you google trypophobia and look at the images it may give you some idea. If you don't feel anything when looking at them - consider yourself lucky.

I've never met any of these people. Just don't buy it. FFS.

I'm an old guy and pretty conservative. I'm also suspicious of a lot of things that people claim as 'triggers' I don't buy a lot if of it either. That being said, my wife and daughter who are both very pragmatic and practical are bothered by this. This is a real thing. Certain things like soap suds, sponges and even mottled, melted ice cream on the lid of the carton can get to her.

I showed my wife a picture of the new pro model and she said it got to her a little. She even thinks it's a bit strange how this affects her.
