What's the point of having AI write your comments? The point of comments is to express your thoughts on an issue in your own words. This is an interpretation by an algorithm that required as much energy to prompt as it would to type your unfiltered comment here except we all know this is not what you actually think because you are playing the telephone game with a computer.
Sweet.
Next time I will be asking you personally to help me express my thoughts in a language that isn't mine.

Nice looking device but not what most want now. Apple forever pumping up cameras and now saying, take our cool looking device without hardly one. I think most are used to the size they like and will stick to that.

I think the iPhone Air is not selling as well as Apple hoped because all the commercials I've been seeing are about the Pro. They are simply not marketing the Air well, which is why the mini failed.

Also, the haters on the internet who are not appreciating the Air for what it is influences people as well.
That’s cause it priced premium lacks camera features and has less battery. Oh and the awkward sounding single speaker. Its only gimmick is that it’s thin.

The original MacBook Air didn't sell all that well either. It was too expensive.

The original iPad Air was also an awkward middle child with an unclear market.

You can't make huge conclusions over slightly off sales figures, especially for a 1st-gen product. If they really are doing a foldable next year, the iPhone market is about to get a huge shakeup anyway. The Air is the most significant new release since the X, and it doesn't depend on selling like hotcakes for its significance.
Both the iPad and the Macbook had their place. The iPad Air was the Pro model in the first years (I think it was thinner too) until they made it the fries model small, medium, large. The first MacBook Air was positioned as a light weight laptop at a time were laptops were bulky and heavy to carry around and later until now positioned as a base model. The iPhone Air was positioned right away as a fries model.

The reason I keep going with the Pro model are the cameras.

Going with the non-Pro iPhone means a compromise. I save a few bucks (potentially a meaningless amount) as a trade to *forever* give up features that I actually want and use... No bueno.

And then the Air. Not only does it drop the telephoto capability that other iPhone models have had for nine years, it basically drops all the lenses that I use frequently (no close-up, magnifier, or macro photos), AND it drops stereo by getting rid of the bottom speaker that has been a standard iPhone feature for 18 years.

What do I get in exchange for giving up those things? A phone that is slightly thinner at the bottom...? The iPhone Pro is already incredibly thin.

Don’t be mad, Air lovers. But understand regular non-geeks see it as half an iPhone.

It lacks cameras. It lacks battery life. It’s missing a speaker. All for $999.

The Air got some traction the first few weeks because of early adopters. The regular mainstream folks buying in October and later don’t want to take risks with battery life, cameras, or speakers.

Honestly, I am enjoying my Air more than my 17 Pro. I have 5 more days to decide which one I am going to return.

Majority of people want all the features if they are paying a premium price and I don't blame them for that. It's just like choosing to eat a $25 buffet or a $25 piece of a Ribeye. Do you want more food for $25 or do you want less food for $25?

To me, 17 Pro is "boring" because using it feels the same as any other iPhone I have had before. Air is a refreshing change even though it does not have all the features. I love how thin/light it feels and I love how it disappears in my jeans/shorts pocket.

At the end of the day, it's just a phone. I can always upgrade to a "better" phone next year if I go with Air this time.

I get really sad when I see things like this. I bought the Air, and I have never been happier with a phone in my life. I'd been waiting for Apple to replicate the delicate features of a really nice high-end phone like Samsung used to do back in the day, and they have finally done it. Yes, it doesn't have three cameras, but the one it does have is impressive. Sure, it only has one speaker, but to be honest, I'm not that guy on the subway blaring my Socials as if nobody else is in the room. I use my headphones... so it's not really an issue. I'm just upset that all reviewers have focused SO HEAVILY on what it DOESN'T have that it has turned people off. This phone is truly marvelous, and it's a shame that people think they need a $ 1,500 device. And I've said this before... generally speaking, it is the people who already have really high-end secondary cameras/video cameras that are trashing this device. It's kind of silly. It's a communication device, and it feels better in-hand than any iPhone ever has. I lament that this may be the only version ever sold of this phone... but it shouldn't be.

Bring back the mini !
Honestly, they should just Cycle these other phone options through to meet the smaller demand. Have a Mini for 2 years, then the + for two years, then the Air/ultra thin. They are all more niche so they aren’t going to sell as well (although they still sell millions, so it really isn’t a “failure”). But then people can upgrade their specialty phone preference every 4-6 years.

F'real?

People weren't even picking them up and holding them in hand and playing with them out of curiosity?

(surprising to me)

Counter-anecdote; at both Apple stores I went to over the weekend, people were handling and ooing and aahing at the Airs. Especially the white one. Funny enough, only the Pro Max and white Air were out of stock.

Looks like the Air will go the way of the Mini.

Can’t wait for people to start crying and threatening to never buy an iPhone again until they get a new model.

You’ll suck it up and buy an iPhone again. Don’t lie. Or you could just go buy an Android, right? Naaaah didn’t think so!

This iPhone Air is the best iPhone I’ve ever had. It’s sad it most likely won’t return for a revision in the line. All people want is these technological Pro bricks, no matter if they don’t really use the Pro features.

Likewise, love my air. I just feel apple priced it too high. The base 17 looks (and is) such good value in comparison even if it does have a lesser chip and ram.

I also feel the perception of the air online puts people off when in reality most would love it if they used it. The battery for example is much better than my 15 pro yet nobody had any issues with that when it released.

Calling the Air a failure after two weeks is naive. People said the same thing about the Apple Watch the first year it came out and it's not only still here but the most popular watch out there

Spot-on. Sadly, that's a forum tradition going back 20 years.

Starting with iPod ("Who asked for a thousand songs in your pocket?") And then iPhone ("Who asked for a non-mechanical keyboard?"). Followed by iPad ("It's just a big iPhone"). And then Apple Watch (If I need to know the time I'lll just look at my iPhone.)

Consumers want the best battery life they can get today. They compare against today's lineup, not against a 2 year old iPhone.

It's like saying, "nobody had issues with A15 or A16 when it was released." Why do you think people disliked iPhone 14 and 15? Nobody wants to hear their phone is only as good as last year's tech.

The Air is crippled in its current form. Slow USB speeds, one speaker, basic camera, and battery isn't the best. Also, the 2tb models of the Pro Max is still plenty in stock, at least locally in Houston. Perhaps not as many people need that storage capacity as thought.

Yeah, I remember when the original Macbook Air launched and I liked the idea of it, but it just made too many compromises for it to be actually viable for me so it just wasn’t an option. It’s kind of the same with this iPhone Air. I want awesome battery life in my phone, maybe the Air is just good enough but then that isn’t “awesome”. I also like having the telephoto lense, so the Pro is kind of the only one that hits those two things for me. It’s the only thing I want better than what my 12 Pro currently offers me in the camera department.
