Well not surprisingly Apple did the absolute minimum it could with the new iPod Touch. The only change is an A10 vs the A8 (and presumably 2GB of RAM) and an obscenely priced 256gb option. That's it folks - no bigger screen, no bigger battery, no biometric security, same bluetooth, no better camera. Heck even the upgrade is using a chip that is 2 years old (soon to be 3 years old). The only reason they added 256gb option is because it's such a high margin item they figure they can wring every extra penny out of a 7 year old design.
If what you want is a relatively light compact audio first device that can run iOS apps you are going to get more bang for your buck with an iPhone SE or an iPhone 7. Besides the SE having an A9 instead of an A10 - both of these devices are equal or superior in every other way. The only advantage the Touch has is its 88 gram weight which you pay dearly for in battery life.
Just kill the device Apple - this offering is embarrassing.
