I bought a 20gb color at Best Buy 2 weeks ago. Paid $299 plus tax. I wonder if its worth it to return it now (if I still can), and get a new 30gb with my edu discount?

I'd say it was worth it. You'll probably end up losing a bit since the restocking fee at Best Buy is most likely more than the student discount at Apple, but you'd have 10 more GB, video, slightly bigger screen, and a thinner iPod.
err sorry, I didn't make myself very clear. What i meant is the 30gb only has 2 hour for video playback, which isn't long enough to make video playback worthwhile imo

Yeah that is very tricky. But it's just like any other product. For example, powerbooks have an estimated battery life of 4.5 hours. In real life terms, that's the lowest screen brightness setting, and very little activity. If you actually did things like browsed the web, or listened to some music while you did that and typed up a paper, battery life drops significantly from 4.5 hours to 2.5 hours.
I wouldn't be surprised that it's two hours of battery life for videos. Consider that iPods can last 14-20 hours with just audio files. But with 40MB-200MB videos, it has to cache all of that and read it and decode the video and power the output to the screen.
