From a developer stand point, this is why you normally shouldn't release anything other than "Coming Soon". Why?
1) You say, "Out in October" and now you have until the 31st to get it out. If you miss by 1 second, people will complain.
2) You go over a day or two to fix bugs, people complain.
3) You release it early in the month and if there is a bug (and there are) people complain that they didn't test it enough.
4) You release it on time, at the end of the month, people complain it was so late in the month. If there's a bug then obviously they don't know what they are doing.
Unless it is absolutely perfect and released at the beginning of the month specified, people are going to complain. Just say "Coming Soon" and then you're not under pressure to push it out to meet some arbitrary deadline. If a major bug shows up late in the testing, you can still fix it and get it out "Soon".
Shall we start an "iTunes 11 Sucks" thread now or wait until it is actually officially released?
