I have no problem with these apps. Easy to hide in a folder called "not used" all done. By chance if I change my mind, easy to find. Everyone has different ideas and nice to see Apple making every effort to satisfy their customers.

It would be better if you could delete them and re-install them if you want. That way everyone is covered and wasted space is not taken up by apps you never use.

Finally. Can't wait to remove useless apps like Game Center, Tips, Compass, Messages, Safari, News, Health, Calendar, Photos, Camera, FaceTime, Contacts, Settings, App Store, iTunes Store, Music, Mail, Stocks, Reminders, Notes, Videos, Maps, Wallet, Watch, Activity, iBooks, Podcasts, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, Calculator, Voice Memos, and Phone.
Better yet is to be able to remove those apps entirely. This is really important for people with 16 gb devices, where every app takes up precious space.
How many GB do they use up? I bet it's smaller than people imagine.

(...and BTW, how many people would want to throw away the phone app or the camera app?)

I expect it'll be a hide, not a remove. And I expect News won't be hideable, iBooks neither. So many of you'll still have the folder with unwanted apps, so nothing gained really.

This sounds good, but the underlying issue is being able to select the DEFAULT app we want to use for a function.

e.g. Instead of using "Mail" app for email, we should be able to use one of several third-party apps in THEIR(!) app store instead, and THEN be able to remove Mail.app entirely from our devices.

Somehow I'd think this is not gonna happen. :-|

Why can't Apple just make these apps free in the App Store like Apple's other free apps? That way if you want them, download for free. Otherwise, no big deal.

This is such a simple fix.

There's a lot more then just the Stock app that I would like to hide. Like Game Center, Health and Tickets/wallet. Anyway, it's a start...

won't make much difference to me since I put all the Apple junk I never use into a folder and bury it on my home screen somewhere. Unfortunately the folder is two pages long because of all the apps I have from Apple and don't regularly use. Now if I could delete them and save some storage space on my 16gb phone that might be interesting

While a lot of those apps are useless to most people, you literally named all of the stock apps.

Is Game Center not a stock app? It was not an original stock app, but I would consider it one. Anything that is on the phone "stock" would be stock IMO.

It is weird how things like garage band, pages, number, keynote can be deleted though.

First of all, it's not implemented yet. Second, as Tim Cook stated awhile back, when you have a system that's as tightly integrated as iOS you have to be very careful about how you implement something like this 9 years into its release.

Will you also complain when they do implement it and there are some unintended consequences?

Are you suggesting that Apple will be doing so bad of a job at designing, developing and testing this "complex" feature that we should expect unintended consequences?

Just one less reason to use Springtomize. I hide these 19 apps: FaceTime, Game Center, Podcasts, Activity, Watch, Compass, Health, iBooks, iTunes Store, News, Maps, Music, Reminders, Stocks, Tips, Videos, Contacts, Find Friends, Find iPhone.

This new found functionality arrived in 9.3 for MDM and Apple Configurator 2.2 restrictions. It's nothing Apple plans on having user facing. It's designed for institutions managing large numbers of iOS devices through Restrictions Profiles.

Sorry everyone.

The issue with that is that stock apps are stored on a non-editable partition on your phone's storage. The only way to make changes is through a software update.

It's much more likely that Apple will just hide the stocks apps from the springboard, since allowing the phone to write to edit the system petition without a signed updated from Apple opens up a whole host of security issues that need to be dealt with.

Edit: not to mention the drive would have to be repartitioned before the user would see any free space from deleting the stock apps.

I think you're right. The way I read it is the "Stocks" app.

"Stock App" like pre-installed, none removable iOS apps, yes, that would be great if they make that possible!

With only 16Gb on my iPhone, hiding is not an option (I do this currently with a 'Apple crap' folder). I need to be able to delete them.

Actually, I left out Weather and Clock. iPhone makes for a great alarm clock and I like to check the weather every 30 minutes since Apple won't make a home screen weather widget.

No need to have anything on my home screen that I don't use. Just wastes space. I just hope that this rumor becomes reality, or else my Misc. folder will have to stay. :(
