Apple said that Safari(At least for Windows) will be an optional download when downloading iTunes. Now that Leopard's going to be released on Friday and it comes with Safari 3, maybe iTunes 8 could be released at the same time as Safari 3.

I guess they won't be updating the look of it anytime soon because the new Finder was partly based on it.

Or maybe there will be a new improved iTunes look that will be the basis for the Finder of 10.6. ;)

+1

But this won't happen, as Steve Jobs would insist that all your music would be bought via iTMS, and so wouldn't be at a high bitrate anyway.

Yeah, then tell me why they allow it for the Shuffle. Just because it cannot play Lossless? They could just leave it at that.

Anyway, this is the one feature I would LOVE to have. Lossless at home, 256AAC on my iPod.

If Apple ever offers Lossless this feature will have to be part of iTunes.

Undo function, sync to iPod in a different bitrate just to name a few.

The next iTunes should replace the Get Info interface with similar pop-up menus as there are in Leopard's iCal

It definitely has to speed up as well...and an option to have 'Move to trash' as the default option when deleting songs.

My friend running Leopard says that iTunes still displays the old Tiger style traffic light buttons, so they would have to at least release a minor update to change those graphics with the Leopard style in the skin.

Thats reassuring if true but unfortunately I'm skeptical as there has been nothing else said of this...

Agreed on that they won't change the look of it anytime soon.

In the Leopard guide video apple posted last week, the dude says that all apps now share the same look and style.

iTunes has different scrollbars to other apps...

I think iTunes needs to be better designed for all types of media seeing as films and TV programmes are becoming the norm for iTunes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it now legal to copy DVD's to your hard drive to watch in the United States? If so, it would be so useful if iTunes could copy and encode your DVDs to your iTunes media library!

iTunes '08 should be a bit more radical in its design but still keeping in the successful style of iTunes. I also agree with psychofreak about the pop up info box, little visual enhancements like that would be most welcome.

Oh and better album art searching seeing as coverflow is so heavily promoted. I mean that if you don't have the album name, it finds the most likely options and auto-chooses for you. Or alternatively gives you an option of a few albums for every song you don't have the art for...

It also doesn't obey the new Unified UI rules in Leopard, under which the 'metal' parts of the interface should change from dark to light gray when in the background. Even in the new Leopard walk-through movie Apple just posted, it doesn't do that. Hopefully that will be fixed in a future release (it would be nice if the Windows versions of iTunes and Safari did this, too).
