It featured a Mac Genius helping people get things done on a plane before electronics must be turned off. I didn't really like it, the very idea of needing a genius to do that sort of thing is bad marketing.

Plus, a creative would help you with that. Still, it's great tht Apple is making Mac ads again.

Edit: 8:47 CST there was a new one advertising the built in apps in a very sardonic way. It targets the computers that obvious Mac knockoffs.

Edit: 9:26 CST. Taking about iPhoto photo books while a man is hurt. I really didn't like this one.

It was definitely different from previous Apple commercials. I didn't really mind it though.

I agree though, it's nice to see a Mac focused ad. Hopefully one of many more to come.

I think the point of it was the Genius support available to them... It was a pretty good commercial though!

I agree that it would be a Creative helping you with a lot of those software feats. However, from a Marketing standpoint, this ad isn't targeting existing Mac users. Those of us already in tune with Apple culture know the difference between a Genius and a Creative. The use of the word "genius" always seems to get heat from just about anyone who doesn't know that it is a job title and not an attribute all Apple employees declare themselves. This was a nice way to not only increase consideration of the Mac to PC users, but to promote their customer service, of which Apple is pretty top notch.

Apple can't exactly use the same approach to Mac ads as they were before. Promotion of security wouldn't fly right now with recent events. But choosing customer service as a benefit is a great message. Who wants to hand over their computer - ANY OS - to the Geek Squad, or anyone else for hours or days at a time, when they can schedule a 15 minute appointment with the actual person that is going to help them on-the-spot? It's nice to see them pushing forward with mass marketing of the Mac again.

It was very un-Apple-like, but I still liked it. Really happy that Apple has chosen Mac to advertise to this huge Olympic audience rather than iOS devices.

I thought it was another Samsung commercial making fun of Apple at first.

Very unlike the normal Apple commercial.

I thought it was a great ad, though. It is poking fun at the Ultrabook ads. It's like the "I'm a Mac, I'm a PC" ads.

I liked the one about the copy cat more than the plane one..

It'll be interesting to see how many air..

I see who Apple is targeting with these ads, but they seem totally out of character, creatively speaking, to what we've been accustomed to expect from the brand. It feels so lame! I know, obviously, there is, and will be, Apple after Steve Jobs, but I can't help wondering if he would have approved this campaign.

I was thinking the same. I don't think that he would have. This series definitely feels like the first post-Jobsian commercials that we're going to see.

I'm glad to see that they're advertising the Mac, but I really wish they still had the "I'm a Mac" ads going. I'm not really a huge fan of this new campaign.

I think the question is, would everyone be hating them if Steve was still here and did approve them?

I'm keeping an open mind. Steve was an amazing guy, but I have to believe that the Marketing team there still has a pretty good idea of what they are doing.

Apple has done a great job keeping all of us (fans) engaged by speaking the language we already know and love. If nothing else, look at it this way: they now have to speak differently to grow, even if it means dumbing down the messaging so PC users can understand and follow along.
