Sorry, was in the process of posting an update when I was pulled away and I forgot that I hadn't done so yet. So:
Received the iMac @ 2:17 pm EST on Tuesday, met the driver in the driveway and grabbed it from him and ran inside. Opened it up (have pics, may post the "box opening later if I get around to it. First thing I did was install my new RAM then booted the computer and did the "quick" set up. Then I connected my old quicksilver via firewire in target disk mode and copied over two of the users and my apps, unfortunately the drive with the music did not get loaded so that was not done. This took about 2 hours.
I then switched the computers position, and got to work on the old computer, copying the Music files to one of my 120GB drives to pull it out of the mac and put in my external drive. So my music now has 120 GB instead of 40 GB.
Updated the iMac software something like 3 times as well as the firmware. reduced the brightness by half, and it is still brighter then my old monitor. I have found that some of my apps don't work because of registration issues, but mostly stuff I don't really care about, will look for lic codes later if I feel like I needed them. Downloaded some updates to apps to make them intel over the PPC that I had the past couple days. I have also been scouring the net for new Desktop Pics in the 1680x1050 resolution size, as apposed to the 1440x900 I had been using.
I still can't believe how bright this is.
Folding@home also got a huge boost, It used to take about 4 days for about 400 points per WU. The past couple days has been about 24 hours for 1500 points per WU.
And yes, my WUs go to the MacRumors folding@home team, moved up 6 spots the last two days!
I also love the little touches you know only apple thinks of like the wiping cloth. And who else can make a great product even better by adding STICKERS. of course, not as many as they used to, but its still there.
anyways want to get back to just playing with my baby for now.
