New Mac Pro Accessories Added to Apple Store, Plus Logitech 4K Webcam for Pro Display XDR

Show me any workstation that does.
Well, there was the original Mac Pro (and of course the Power Mac G5), which had a lock built into the latch. Also, most servers and wintel workstations include at least an eye for a steel cable or kensington lock slot.

I think i'm as confused as some other about the graphics options. Is it not possible to just slot in an off-the-shelf Vega64 for $300 & have it work?

So what I'm seeing is you can't just slot any PCI-E GPU into this machine? Your only upgrade path is through Apple? What a disappointment.

Of course you can. Apple even sells cables to do just that.

What I meant was... Apple thought all the expansion should be on the outside of the computer with the trashcan Mac Pro.

That plan obviously didn't work out too well since they switched back to internal expansion on the followup.
Apple's changed quite a bit. I remember Apple ads about how much less clutter you can have with an iMac G3 than a PC. With the 2013 Mac Pro, Apple seemed to want even more clutter.

Wish Apple would have its own Portal type of Facetime camera for the TV. I like the idea but I would never ever trust Facebook spying on my living room.

That's the education price.

Oy... yes. You are correct. Strangely earlier the page said $4,999 and $5,999 for the two different models, but the stand was $899. Didn’t click I was on the education store. Now the education store is saying $4599 and $5599. So...yeah.

I’d certainly be picking up a set of the silver/black mouse, keyboard and trackpad if they were to be sold separately in near future.

I nearly picked up a space grey set but didn’t like that the space grey aluminium didn’t match the silver of the iMac I have.

I have been tempted to get the Logitech MX keys and Master 3 mouse but I may hold off for a few months now.

The corporate pro market this was designed for does not want cameras on their computers. Security and privacy.

Didn't think about that. My camera is covered almost 99% of the time, so I guess that makes sense.

Specced out at 48 grand, I’m surprised there’s not a more robust security accessory than a $50 cable lock adapter.

You don't store something like this where all you need is a cable lock.

Space Gray keyboard, trackpad, and mouse were originally iMac Pro exclusives. I am sure they will trickle down for purchase eventually. Perhaps they will replace silver and space gray versions altogether?

I think it's silly that they still use Lightning connector for charging though. Apple should move them to USB-C.

Forget USB-C, it's not even backlit!

Honest question - If I'm using something other than FCP, when am I going to choose the $50K (without monitor) MacPro vs a tricked-out Windows 10 workstation with similar or better specs for <$5K?

I can learn a lot of Premiere/AfterEffects for that extra $45K.

Asking as a fan, but not a rich fan, of OSX.
