Should be:

X5482 12MB 3.20 GHz 1600 MHz DP 150W
E5472 12MB 3.00 GHz 1600 MHz DP 80W
E5462 12MB 2.80 GHz 1600 MHz DP 80W

I am guessing due to cost, power and cooling they will not use the X5472, but I could be wrong and it might be shipping instead of the E5472.

Once they get into reviewer's hands, we will know for sure.

Amazing. I called the apple store and all the guy could tell me was "harpertown" processor. What retards. Why does Apple make it so hard to find this out? Professionals care about details and why do they want us to hunt for it?

Two 3.2GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeo
2GB (2x1GB) RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
One 16x SuperDrive
AIRPORT EXTREME-INT
APPLE MIGHTY MOUSE
WIRED KEYBD/MAC OS X-FIN.
Country Kit-INT

3-5 weeks wait it is killer though

I just picked mine up at the Apple store

Apple stores have them in stock - at least the "Base" configuration - which I purchased. They also sell an "Ultimate" configuration - which they did not yet have in the store.

Here is the base config that I bought for $2799
Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
2GB (2x1GB) Memory
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GDDR3
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
One 16x SuperDrive

The delay is 3-5 weeks on the 8800GT... I don't know if I should do it or not.

Hehehehehehehehehe..... :D

I told you I'd beat you to it. ;)

Two 2.8 Quad-Core Xeon Harpertown 1600 FSB
2GB (2x1GB) RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 512MB
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb
One 16x SuperDrive
Wired Keyboard
Wired Mouse
.Mac Subscription
Logic Studio Upgrade from Logic Pro 7

$3226.19 - $600.00 in Gift Cards = $2626.19

This configuration was EXACTLY what I've been waiting for. The 2.8 processor with the 80 watt TDP @ 1600 FSB, 2 gigs RAM standard, bigger HDD standard, and the bluetooth free was an added bonus.

Is it me, or does it seem like Apple has been paying attention to the countless Mac Pro speculation threads throughout the intarweb???

I'll tell you one thing though......
Very happy.... (in three weeks) ;)

For those wanting to get a Mac Pro with a faster graphics card, I would wait until people start playing around with the new Macs. Because you might be able to buy an off the shelf ATI graphics card (not so sure about Nvidia) and put it in there. It is my understanding the new ATI cards should support EFI (which Macs use instead of a BIOS).

Going to get all standard but go with 4 core and add wifi. Anyone know if you can get student discount in store? I would rather do that then online.

Two 2.8GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (8-core)
2GB RAM (2 x 1GB)
320GB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
AirPort Extreme card (Wi-Fi)
One 16x SuperDrive
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB (Two dual-link DVI)

I called my local Apple Store and they had them in stock! Unfortunately I couldn't use my NPPA discount in store. Online/phone only. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to wait the 7-10 days for shipping.

I'm definitely going to buy some more RAM once crucial/owc/dms update their pages.

What do you think? Should I pull the trigger? :p

Ordered mine about noon today, not thrilled about the 3 to 5 weeks. Thought about getting a 2nd Optical drive but figured i'd save the spot for a BluRay down the line. And get another 4g of ram between now and the time I get the comp.

I'm waiting on a monitor just in case they surprise us with an update at macworld.

Happy that they are out but it is like that delayed happy because of the shipping. can....almost....taste..... it

Update:

I cancelled my order, and re-ordered a stocker. I also ordered a 800GT. That way, I can get my machine quicker, and the nicer video card will come in whenever.

I've got 1 500 gig disk and 2 750 gig disks on the way. Also, ordered 4 gigs of Ram from OWC.

Umm....... why? That's like throwing money out the window.

Regarding the memory, I want it ASAP and my preferred memory supplier (Crucial) didn't have compatible modules yet. Although they may have them before I get the machine I don't know for sure.

With the disks, my only rationale is the comfort factor buying them from Apple as I have no prior experience with this machine.

But the significant reason is I put a high value on my time so it's worth the extra money to me.

Man, you could buy 4 of the base model for that.....wow!!

That graphics card alone slows your order down quite significantly! You can't be in too much of a hurry to see this machine

I will probably get the stock model from the Apple shop. However, if they stock an "ultimate" config, well I might be tempted.
