To compete with DHL's overnight delivery, there's now a FedEx option to send it 6 years back in time. UPS is gonna tank, mark my words.

I'd heard about that. I ought to send the Harry Potter books back in time so I can be richer than the queen of England

Hm....

harry potter. how quaint.

I'm going to assume you meant "provide start up money for google".

But, if you're hooked on the queen of england thing, i'm sure you can buy her as a child and keep her in a cage next to your stock.

In addition, with that kind of money you could have J. K. Rowling legally killed.

:D

Apple is waiting until the votes are tallied before announcing their new line of MacCain's or MacBarack Pro's.

So if MacCain is elected that means Apple stays with the same cheese grater Dubya look? And if MacBarack is elected we get a new design Mac Pro? So the new MacBarack Pro would be with the new Barback black trim style Apple has been going with in it's latest updates on the other Macs? Maybe Apple is already predicting the winner! And it does seem Apple is moving away from the plastic white!

Nah, my way's easier. And I might get a Mac Pro out of the deal... :)

Don't despair... If the medication is not working out, I am sure an Apple a day will keep the Doctor at bay ;):D

Right sorry. meant 5 and it's a ppc. mac pro is just an updated G5 so i sometimes get skewed with the terminology forgive me for my old age :)

i don't think the mac pro is Apple's flagship anymore. More like the iMacs and macbooks are. Those are the best selling products in their line up anyways. You could even say the iPod and iPhone are the new flagships.

Hi zer0tails,

You see, with the 10-K reports published, it's pretty clear that Apple's main revenue chunk still comes from the desktop (39 %) and portable (38 %) systems. iPod share is big -- 10 % -- but not that big.

It would be interesting to see a per product split though, because the Desktops share includes iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, Power Mac and Xserve (as stated in the 10-K). I presume iMac would be the leader.

The Mac Pro unit numbers are likely quite low. I would guess* that in the PC world the numbers are probably around 300,000 a quarter at most for dual socket workstations, while Apple's sales aren't going to be relative to that I'd be suprised if Apple were selling more than 100,000 units a year.

* 850,000 units a quarter in 2008 for workstations including specialist systems from the likes of Sun and IBM as well as Intel and AMD single socket, mobile and dual socket systems.

Yeah, could be... Highest price in the desktop line-up, pro's segment (which is narrow), bad economy, major upgrade expectations etc. That all plays its role.

My eyes may have been on vacation (Bahamas, I think) when I was writing this previous post... Now they're back, I see that I've taken the percent change for percent per product. So combined revenue from the gadgets and music is bigger than from the desktop and portables, and iPod is indeed the absolute champ. Nuts. **** happens.

I again think Early to mid 2009. I really hope they do not have display port but i guess its inevitable. I don't want to be shelling out and extra £150~ for converters to support 3 displays, would be a nightmare (unless this daisy chaining is possible).

I hope the case doesn't change and we get blu-ray support (probably unlikely until snow leopard at least) and i definately can't see it happening this year. We'll see though!

DisplayPort is a GREAT standard. It allows video as well as data to go through, like ADC, but it's a standard instead of an Apple standard. Unfortunately, Apple's Mini DisplayPort is NOT a standard. So we'll see what happens.

Hopefully Apple will address your issue with flying colors, but I won't get my hopes up.
