Apple won't make the MBAir too wonderful as that could divert sales from the MBPro line lowest models. There is a reason why the MBAirs are limited to 2TB SSDs, sub 32GB of memory, non-Nano modest displays and just two USB-C ports (not v5).

This will likely be my next Mac, although I could also hold until an M5 MBA. I have a 16" M1 MBP that has been in the shop with major repairs (my dog pulled it off a standing desk because I wasn't using MagSafe plug. I am wondering how much longer it will last. It's still all I need, but it is heavy. Now that I have an M4 Pro Mac mini, I don't need a laptop for anything processor heavy.

Might purchase a baseline-line M4 MacBook Air for everyday use. My M1 MacBook Air is starting to show some wear and tear (although it still works without an issues).

Return to M1 MacBook Air form factor please 🙏
I really thought Apple would come out with a MacBook SE based on that form factor, but apparently they have been able to get the newer design down in price enough to meet the price points they were looking at.

New products coming this week? Mark Gurman said it?

It’s coming next week.
Gurman didn't say it was this week for sure, but rather that it's "as early as this week."

In other words, he thinks it will be released some time between today and whenever its actual release date is.

So many people used to 120hz+ these days. I’d take a lower quality screen in other ways to get 120hz+…

I have occasion to go back and forth between 60/120 across a couple Macs and it's crazy how the incresed refresh rate just makes everything feel so much snappier and "connected" to your input actions

It just "feels" so much better (and obviously looks smoother)

I will absolutely die on the hill that Steve would have had "ProMotion" across all devices YEARS ago now.
He was notorious for wanting the "better experience" to be deployed everwhere as soon as they could

Because it simply resulted in better products

I think now the MacBook Air has 16GB standard they’re pretty solid devices already but lots could be improved, like keyboard and display. If the price doesn’t increase in Europe and they improve either or both of those things I think I’ll get my first Mac computer :)
I’m pretty sure the display will be upgraded but I don’t want to tempt fate by putting my Dell up for sale yet haha

Oh and a microSD card slot would be great but I know, I know.

Remind me again how many times Steve Jobs dropped the MacBook Air when he introduced it back in 2008 due to it being too difficult to hold. I lost count after zero.

Very true! But, I don't think he qualifies as the average user when he was on stage. Ringmaster, maybe. This was the guy who faked (fudged if you are kind) a lot of things on the stage - and in interviews - to make them look good because that was his job. Even the hold in that snap. Damn, that is pure polish.
