If a 15” MBA does happen it will probably be in late 2023 or sometime 2024. Still have iMac, Studio and MP to go.
They’ll probably update the Studio alongside the Mac Pro since the M2 Max is now already out and the Pro should debut the M2 Ultra. There are rumors Apple might skip an M2 iMac and jump straight to M3.

Either way this is hopefully a sign Apple is tightening up their silicon release schedules now that supply chain issues have eased significantly.

Who cares if M3 gets released. I have M1 and it's cool. What is M2 doing that M1 can't? Nothing. Same with M3. Apple is Microsoft. Every year come out with a new and faster processor and get people excited enough to buy a new computer.

It reminds me of when a 1.8ghz processor was released 3 months after a 1.6ghz and then a 2.0ghz was released 6 months after the 1.8ghz. Like who cares? Thats why Jobs took advantage of the market and turned Apple into what it was. He INNOVATED.
You don’t care, other people do care. There is a variety of reasons to get an M3 MBA.

I just hope they don't release an M2 15" Laptop and then update the 13" MBA with the M3 later this year. That would make anybody who purchased the 15" version feel ripped off.

Also I hope they just release it as a "MacBook" maybe give it some active cooling or maybe not(perhaps with the bigger size they can engineer a much better passive cooling solution) and also give me the option for a M3 Pro version with 10 Cpu cores or something, for future proofing.

Oh and please, make it 16Gb Standard, please Apple!(I wish 🤣)

I agree and suspect they will release the 13" and 15" M3 MBAs at the same time.

No need for the Air to have a fan, unless you are using it like a MacBook Pro.

MacBook Pro

16GB is standard if you ignore the 8GB one. 😜

Make sense if Apple going to introduce MBA 15 inch which essential is big brother to 13-inch. So future MBA lineup could be following:

1. MBA Classic M1/M2 ? 13-inch $999
2. New MBA 13 with M3 $1199
3. New MBA 15 with M3 $1399?

Hmm, wonder will Apple update classic MBA to M2 since Mac Mini just being updated to M2.
The wedge MBA will probably always be M1 until it is discontinued.

Really hope the M3 family finally comes with HW accelerated RT, rumored for the A16 GPU but canned and reverted to the old one for heat issues apparently. 3nm plus a next gen GPU architecture should be a far bigger gain than the M2 family.

Still wondering if it's on N3B/first gen or N3E

It all depends what you're doing with it. I am still using a 2014 13" MBP with a 2.8Ghz i5 and 16Gb of Ram.
Does everything I need it to do without a flaw.

DigiTimes also claimed the M2 Pro/Mac MBP were delayed, this sounds like bogus talk once again from a repeat offender. Forget the iMac, Studio or eve MP let’s just jump on M3 right away.
But the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max were delayed. Apple had supposedly originally planned to announce them in the fall.

Information embedded within Apple's website suggests that this week's new Mac announcements, including the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, were initially set to be unveiled in October or November of last year.

I haven't invested in a Mac in the past few cycles, shifting over to Windows. I would like a 15" MBA or 16" MBP, but an entrypoint that will ensure maximum longevity. 64GB RAM and 2TB storage is ideal. I don't know why I can't get a Mac with integrated 5G cellular modem like I can with my Surface, Dell, and HP laptops.

I believe that code-m is referring to the MacRumors post from Digi-times last week: https://www.macrumors.com/2023/01/11/new-macbook-pros-potentially-delayed-yet-again/

I wonder if the Apple Headset will be getting an M3? This might be the first Apple chip with ray trace acceleration. Maybe the Apple game console will finally come out of the skunkworks?

You certainly can't criticize Apple of slacking these days.

Historically Apple seems to discontinue the most recent iteration in favor of the new one while keeping the older one around as the "budget" option. I would see them keeping the M1 MBA in the classic clamshell, reducing it to $899, axing the M2 MBA entirely and introducing the M3 MBA.

Man I want a 15” Air so friggin’ bad but I also want it come out with the best features possible so personally I can wait if they decide to launch with the M3 chip inside instead of the M2. I kinda think it would make the most sense too since the M2 is just a minor spec boost over the M1.
