Hi Guys,

Sorry for my ignorence - what is WWCD?

Thanks :)

World Wide Developrs Conference

Apple holds it every year. Lately, it has been a mix of iphone and Mac os-x updates. Last year the Macbook Pros were updated, Snow Leopard was shown, with the iPhone 3GS and 3.0 software release.

My guess for this year is a preview of os 10.7, iphone 4.0 release (both software and hardware.

VERY interesting. Also, any mention of the Mac Pros?

I am assuming they will be updated along side with the MBP's, I'm not a 100% positive cause I didn't ask, but it would make sense though, why have 2 release days relatively close together? It's unprofessional and un-business like, plus the bigger release day vs 2 smaller ones... the bigger the release day the more publicity

Me too - Mac Mini Reresh!

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm hoping for a Mac mini refresh. I want to buy a simple, low cost computer for my mother, but want to get an i5 model, not the rather dated C2D model. Here's hoping.

I also want a Mac Mini refresh. Larger internal HD capacity & HDMI, let's go!:)

Sweeet, I like the way you think! Haha.

dont get ur hopes up

I have read literally hundreds of post regarding the rumors of the release and never posted any. i think this time is a just hoax too or the actual release will be months away.

I agree with those of yous saying june in the WWDC.

i hope im wrong too cuz I really want a 13" since feb.

Theres a 5% chance it will be this month

I empathize because I prefer matte over glossy/glassy screens. My eyes are just very sensitive to the glare.

I actually don't mind the glossy as much . . . but only if I am NOT going to be doing any work I am getting paid for on it. It's easy to get by, and careful color calibration, toning and grading can be done on the iMac screens, but something just screams "YUCK" to me when I open Lightroom or Aperture on a glassy Apple screen.

Can't wait much longer

I've been wanting to make the move to Mac for sometime now and I had thought that my current laptop would last the distance and let me wait for the update. The last few days, however, my laptop has become increasingly sluggish and temperamental. If this update doesn't happen I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and go for it. I think it'll be okay though, as long as it does what I want it to do I'll be good. It's got to be better than waiting up to 5 minutes for Nero Showcase to open. ;)

I am at work now and was gonna order it so it would be home around the same time as I am, next week, but I'm going to wait out April and then order it if there has been no news by then. That's the bottom line.

:(I feel like a chump, since i waited for about 2 months for the update and especially now that this rumor came out, but i finally caved. I figured the update isn't gonna add that much benefit for what i use it for anyways and there will always be new and upcoming technology. I got my 15" 2.53 mbp for 1470$ new, so at least i didn't pay full price. Patience has never been a virute of mine, hopefully it doesn't come back to bite me in the butt too bad.

I'm in the same boat, well I imagine that I will be in a few weeks. I've seen so many of these rumours that I'm beginning to think that the update will never happen. Chin up, at least you have a shiny new MBP to play with for many years. It could always "have an accident" if you've got it insured? ;)

Ya just wait the month, I can wait and enjoy a brand new MBP then buy one now and know that I'm going to have to look the other way when the new one come out. So I'll wait, lol

I sold my macbook about a month ago and have been waiting for the new Macbook Pros ever since......I'm almost tempted to buy an iPad to hold me over....

Thank you for taking one for the team and buying one of the
last remaining stock of the C2D MBPs. You probably overpaid
by close to $1,000, but at least you'll help the rest of us out by
putting more pressure on Apple to release the new MBPs.

One store doesn't mean imminent upgrade. ( or even several stores feeding off a single distributor, if there is more than one layer of middlemen between them and Apple). To some extent the stores don't want to get caught with "old" inventory either. When they get feeling about time they may slow orders so that don't get caught with stock will have to heavily discount to get rid of. The closer Apple gets to year anniversary the more widespread this will become.

Similarly could be dropping temporarily inventory to make their books look better ( end of their financial quarter). Hold back on reorders temporarily to look better and then when no deep audit go fill the stock to normal levels.

If it is several stores and the Apple online store starts slipping on delivery dates too then that a more creditable indicator.

Hi.

Just wanted to add to this, UK Apple store ship time for a standard 15" MBP 2.66Ghz is now 2 days, all others are 24hrs. There are several Apple resellers in the UK who are either out of stock or have very few MBPs, not just Macwarehouse (largest UK Apple Reseller). I posted about this a week or two ago in other threads but basically got told it was resellers not re-ordering in case they got stuck with old stock after an update. Didn't believe that then and don't believe it now, the resellers will just order lower quantities, current MBPs will still sell to people who either don't care about the updates or who are unaware that an update is due. There are also people who will not buy a brand new model in case of any issues with them ie. Imac 27" screen issues. My bet is that there will be new MBPs this month.

This "newer" news sounds believable and I want to believe, I really, really do. But I got taken on that whole tooth fairy thing and since then, I've just been a little skeptical.

 Oh my God, not again...

Is this a reply to my post?

these are taking SOOOOOOOOOOOO long.

do you think they will still be new technology by the time they are released? i5, i7 or something better? seems windows users have been using these chips for an ice age.
:(

Yeah, they have been taking an age to update. I don't know if you can say they will have new CPUs, I think it will be the Core ix which you get im Windows PCs, probably i5s in the MBP 13", 15" and 17" at the same speeds or a little faster than the current C2Ds and the option of an i7 in the 17" and maybe the high end 15".

I thought I would go for a top end 13" MBP but starting to lean towards a 15", depends on price and exact spec.

Assuming they are released in April and one's looking for processing power + modest screen size, Wouldn't it make more sense then to buy an i3/i5 13" macbook pro than contemporary c2d imac 21"? I'm looking for a good avchd video editing mac and this will be my switch from PC (noob!!). Just find it weird that the macbook pro would seem like a better deal for processing power and price than an imac. Am I missing something?

I think, from what has been said in other threads, there may not be a big difference in the performance of C2D and Core i CPUs, the difference maybe in power consumption. I haven't looked at iMac spec/prices so not sure how these compare to MBPs.
