Finally some interesting MacBook new, plus iPhone 0S 4 announcement on the same day!

Happy Bank Holiday!

am i missing something???? why does everyone keep talking about the next iphone os coming out this week?????

I really must have missed something.....

Well it appears that we can count tomorrow out as an update day. Apple is showing iPhone OS 4 on Wednesday (the 8th).
This makes no sense.

If Apple really were demo-ing iPhone OS 4 on Wednesday (which is the 7th, by the way), they would have sent out media event invitations a week ago (which they have not). Plus, Apple tends to make announcements on Tuesday (the tech industry has historically used Tuesdays as it works well with the deadlines for weekly periodicals).

There's also a good chance that Apple would not hold a special event for the updated computers. They would simply post a press release and start shipping new products. There's still a chance that Apple would ship new Macs tomorrow or possibly next Tuesday.

I wouldnt get excited this has no real evidence to it at all and the ipad hasnt been released anywhere but America yet, Im not getting my hopes up I've waited since january they will come eventually but probably either at the same time as they release the ipad with mobile internet or at a later date after this. Looking forward to getting a new one s my first MAC but the wait is killing me.

Most vague post I've seen in a long while. This is just a bad attempt at speculation...
I guess MacRumors doesn't make enough to pay someone to give them a real translation. So we end up with a rumor about another rumor. Round and round and round it goes, what it says, nobody knows. Is there a MacRumors Pro that has a few bucks to pay a human translator?

PLEASE give us higher resolution displays for the 15" MacBook Pro

totally would love some 1920x1200 on my 15" model that im buying, i hope they do the back to school thing immediately and not wait until the late summer, so i can get the deals and get my macbook immediatley

I'm willing to drop serious $$$ if we have a 15 inch MBP with;
-core i7 processor
-all black unibody design
-matte screen
-without superdrive
-over 10 hours battery life per charge
-intel ssd option
-nvidia optimus technology

I'm taking a back seat to this rumor. The only 1 thing good we can say is now that the I-toy, I mean pad is out in the open. Perhaps we can get back to real business. Everything else was put on hold for this game pad/book reader. Don't won't to come across angry but these Macbooks are way over due. Looking forward to some real power in my hands.

My bad, got the day wrong (but correct date). So maybe it is possible to get an update on the notebooks tomorrow (still not likely IMHO).

In case apple is reading, I figured i'd add my wish to the list with the others... I'm really hoping for higher resolution screens on the pro models. Thanks!

How about 6 and 12 core MacPros?

The Mobile i7 & i5 chips as far as I'm aware are still dual core, just more performance boots about 12%-18% so its not massively substantial. My 2.53Ghz C2D 13'' MBP would more than likely compensate with its 7200RPM 500GB Hard drive and its 8GB RAM :D

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I'm hoping for a Mac mini refresh. I want to buy a simple, low cost computer for my mother, but want to get an i5 model, not the rather dated C2D model. Here's hoping.

This would be fabulous, but I can't see them making the Mac Mini more powerful than the bottom line iMac. An i5 Mini probably can't be sold profitably for $799. Even if it could, I don't see Apple selling an i5 Mac Mini and 24" screen for $1700 and eviscerate their 27" iMac sales now that they've fixed the screen issues, etc.

All of that being said, if they did offer an i5 Mac Mini, I'd buy it in an absolute heartbeat.

Why HD-DVD? its a dead format now...
And yet my collection of 100 or so HD-DVD titles still play. You'd think they would have decomposed the day after Toshiba pulled the plug but they're actually working just fine and only cost a couple bucks each for anything else on the format. The best thing that could possibly happen to BD is that it fails and becomes cheaper than DVD like HD-DVD did. ;)

Don't see why both the iPad 3G and Macbook can't be released relatively close. Its two separate class of items...

Not many would buy an iPad to replace a Macbook. Current Macbook owners will probably buy the iPad and not upgrade their existing, perfectly working Macbook. The only people losing out are those waiting for the new Macbooks and want an iPad at the same who cannot afford both?

Plus the iPad isn't a 'need' item, its a 'want' item. You need a Macbook to do work, etc etc... iPad is purely 'want' IMO.
