Honestly, with the screen being 16:10, if they kept full screen videos in the bottom 16:9, and it just sat in the menu bar, honestly, it would be WAY less intrusive than on iPhone, where it is on the side for video and they don’t push the video over to compensate.

it’s only okay if it brings Face ID, though.

This is either an April Fool's joke 168 days too early, extremely lazy rumouring or Timmy's attempt at flushing out internal leakers. In any event I can't imagine Apple would butcher the MBP with a notch, nor an entirely black keyboard and surround, both of which would just be laughable. But then they did do a hatchet job on Safari so, who knows...

I would be ok with this, because I never use my Mac full screen, and there is nothing in the menubar there anyway. But I'm sure there are plenty of people that use there Mac full screen for movies, and a notch at the top would be much more noticeable than on the side on the iPhone(Landscape watching 16:9) But this isn't going to happen.

What’s the problem?? The Mac has a menu bar that’s always showing so it’ll just cover it up. Unless you’re full screen in some app but even still showing the menu bar is pretty common I would think

I don’t know about you, but I actually have menus in my menu bar.

Apple tried putting a fixed Apple logo in the center of the menubar in early beta versions of Mac OSX and it just got in the way.

I think I’d marginally fall on the side of being pro a notch. The benefit seems to be that the overall machine can be smaller for a given display size. It would just occupy a bit of the menu bar which wouldn’t be a huge problem for 99% of apps.

Only concern would be some pro apps like Maya that have loads of menus.

Very true. Pro apps have many menu items so they’ll go on the other side of the notch if there are many menu options. Not a big deal. I’d rather have Face ID on a Mac and have to deal with a long menu bar.

I'm confused, who is the Weibo user in China making this claim? That is, presumably they have provided rumors before and been accurate, or work somewhere that would provide them the possibility of having insider info? I assume MacRumors isn't at the point where I, I random person, could tweet, the new MBP pro will be available in Black, and that would count as publishable rumor? And the other person mentioned, even says with no track record, so why is this being published? I mean I understand its being published because we will click on it and for those who don't block ads, will be helping MR make money. But won't be a MR for long, if they literally start publishing statements from anyone who a social media account.

I don't like the idea of rounded corners in a display, especially in a computer. Also, the idea of a notch is just plain unnecessarily for a device with the footprint of a laptop, just give it a few extra millimeters of bezel at the top.
