Just had the same thing happen to mine - the light would go out after a random period of time. It would still charge, just no LED indicator. I finally got around to calling up applecare and they sent me a replacement - everything works great now.

I'm running into this. On my 5th charge cycle within 2 weeks of Switching.

Same symptoms as above, but sometimes power just drops and the MBP runs off battery power. It used up all the battery once because I did not notice it was running on battery (even with the power plugged in)!

I called Apple today and they're sending me a new Magsafe adapter.

Other than that, I have not had *any* problems with my 15" glossy MBP. No LED issues, no wireless disconnects, no noisy headphones either.

I've got this issue fixed. But I can't say for sure how. I exchanged my adapter with another one, but from a SR MBP. Now, both our adaptors work ok and the leds are on at all times. This is very strange...

I just noticed that the led doesn't completely turn off, it just gets very faint...

I just bought my 2.4 MBP a week ago and I noticed this too. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does I also notice it isn't charging my laptop either. Its very werid I really didn't think anything of it until i read this post.

I had apple send me a new power adapter and it didnt solve this problem at all. I got the LED going out a couple more times after that, but now its been about two weeks since I've seen the light go out.

So maybe it has something to do with the new battery breaking in, since I seemed to only have the problem show up within the first two weeks of purchasing the MBP.

I recreated this green led going out but still charging from the macbook's magsafe.. so I can say that its the mbp's issue.. I just dont know whether to exchange the mbp as I'm still within the 14 days or not because I'm afraid of the vertical band, dead/stuck pixel issue even more...

I just noticed this on mine too. While I can't be sure, I don't think that my MBP used to do this. Maybe it's related to a recent update?

I have two 15" MBP's also running Leopard...no problems.

I loaded Bootcamp onto my new troublesome 17" and installed Vista onto the Windows partition. As soon as I start Power hungry Vista up, off goes the Magsafe, I dont even get the short delay that I have when I run in Mac mode.

Mine is definitely a power demand problem. For those interested ty this little application "MiniBatteryLogger" it will show you just how much current is taken when you plug the Magsafe in.

For some reason I cant recreate the green led going off now on my mbp... oh well at least when in the past when the green led didnt light up it still charged just fine.. maybe it needed to break in the battery or the connector is seating and touching the 5 points better now?

I do notice that when you snap on the magsafe to the mbp, those 5 pins spring inwards and springs back outwards once you unplug it from the mbp.. maybe some of the time 1 of the pins or 2 even dont spring back out resulting in not touching the copper pinpoints inside the mbp's female portion of the magsafe? That's my only conclusion.

This is something that has been bothering me for a while. Everything seems to work fine, but it's a bit annoying to not easily see when it's charging.

hey everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the same issue

But sometimes when i plug in my new MBP the LED doesn't come on,
but when i check the battery menu it has a charge symbol but just says battery not charging?

Any help?:(

Sounds like you have a fault on either the magsafe plug on your adaptor or (less likely) on the MBP itself. I'd get Apple to look at it...

do I need to take it to an apple store, or any reseller?

because there isn't an apple store where i live =(

The light on my magsafe is doing something different.
its blinking. it changes from red to green. also the status of the battery seems to change randomly form charging to not charging.

Weird:confused:

When I had the 17" hi res mbp it did the no green led light off and on and it saids charged at the top right but when I went to about this mac/power/connected it saids no and so did the 2.5Ghz mbp.. seems like there is a glitch or something with leopard that causes this with the mbps.

I have not had the led light go out even once so far on the 2.4Ghz (white) macbook.

Hi

My LED started going off whilst it would still say it was charging. Replugging and it would come back on. Apple refused to send me a replacement charger when I spoke to them over the phone saying I need to goto an Apple Store.

Anyways the guys in the Apple Store said there is a small board on which the MagSafe connector is housed that needed replacing. Since that was done I've not had the LED go out on me. :)
