The 300% increase in battery life comes from tests which utilize primarily Intel's iGPU for decoding high definition video such as watching HD movies. The real world battery increase for Kaby Lake is at least in one reviewer's test 3 times that of an almost identical PC running Skylake. Unfortunately, I have lost the link, but I will post it if I can find it.

I think you're getting mixed up with the 10bit video tests mentioned, it wont decode normal HD video any differently to Skylake or Haswell

That could be, since I am operating off of memory. Regardless, I would prefer to have the increase in GPU performance offered by Kaby Lake. Hopefully, by the time Apple updates the MBPs with Kaby Lake, the bugs from this generation will have been worked out.

Extremetech has posted an informative article concerning Apple's decision to make certain TB 3 docks or hubs incompatible with its implementation of TB 3 on the new Macs. In short, iOS rejects some but not all accessories using the TI TPS65982 chipset based on Apple's proprietary implementation of TB 3. All TB 3 accessories that don't work with the new MBPs do actually conform to Intel's TB spec, so it is still unknown why some accessories using the TPS65982 chipset work while others don't. The article also links to a list of accessories that are known to be compatible with the new MBPs--could be very useful if you are looking for accessories.

There are performance improvements with ram speed CPU instructions and PCI implementation of disk data. Apple generally is pretty good at optimizing their systems. I'm not sure what you do that you need so much ram; I've been doing graphics this year with an 8 year old MBA with only 2 gigs of ram. Good luck finding a laptop that meets your needs and don't be afraid to try windows 10.

I'd rather die than switch to Windows 10. I'll just wait in hope for an actual Macbook Pro update, rather than this Mackbook Air update with the "pro" sticker and price mistakenly attached. Please don't die on me, my faithful 2012 mbp!

$400 extra seems a LOT to pay for a stupid little touch strip (the CPU sure isn't any faster since 2013 from what I've read) and the AMG GPU is faster, but it's still not approaching something useful for gaming, etc. Throw in the hub/dongles you'll need to make it work for anything other than WiFi use and you're sitting a lot closer to $3000 for a freaking 15" notebook! I remember when the Mac Pro started at $1800-2200. It's pushing $3000 for a computer that is THREE YEARS OLD for god's sake! Does Apple not know about depreciation and outdated hardware?

What I cannot comprehend is how the richest tech company in the world CANNOT manage to update all their hardware lines each year when two-bit hardware companies for Windows can manage. There's NO excuse for the Mac Pro being three years out of date to begin with. They could have at least upgraded the hard drive and GPU during that time.

"Avoid plugging it in that way."
The "wrong"-word was not used bei Jobs during antenna gate.

What are you talking about?
Can't wait for my preorder to arrive and I couldn't care less about this news.

Says the suspended troll....

There is a software patch "TB3-enabler" that might allow these unsupported Thunderbolt 3 devices to work in macOS Sierra.

I had to use the patch to connect a "Thunderbolt 3 to Dual DisplayPort" adapter to a "AKiTiO Thunder3 Duo Pro" connected to a MacBook Pro 2015 using an "Apple Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2" adapter.

Is this a case of evolving TB3 standards? A similar issue came up with USB-C since the standard hadn't been finalized in 2015 when Apple released the 12" MacBook. Some chargers that work in the 2015 model don't work for the 2016 model.

How about the most pre-orders of a MacBook Pro ever?

Maybe you need an extra dongle for your dongle

Actually I've been having wifi issues with a 3rd party USB-C to USB gen 1 adapter, and adding another 3rd party adapter (USB-C extension) fixed the issue! And the best part is I didn't give Apple any more money for first party adapters after they screwed me over with this ****** laptop.
