My iPhoto was unusable (>100GB library), everything was crawling slow ... once I upgraded to a SSD things got snappy and fast when doing stuff in iPhoto.

That's more due to iPhoto being crappy than the HD speed though. In the beginning, having more than 1000 pictures would kill iPhoto. The thought that people might have a lot of pictures apparently never crossed the designer's minds. It's gotten better but it's far from good. Worst of the iApps - always been, and probably always will be.

Don't get your hopes up. You're probably getting something in the GeForce GT line, a 5xxM.

Arghhh... WTF MacRumors, NONE of this came true. Same weight as before, CD drives (waahhh), trackpad same as before... and of course no dedicated Flash or anything like that.

That means if I get one, I'll also have to get the NewModeus optibay adapter, and an SSD to put in there. So - I'll probably pass. Yeah quad core is sweet, but that's about it.

These rumors are probably true, just not until the redesign that is supposed to be taking place next year. This is similar to all of those iPad retina display rumors. Correct, just wrong generation of product.
