That wouldn’t drop until ios27 ships anyway. Anyone who legit thought we would see a new ATV before the September event is delusional.
Really - these new mac mini’s/mac’s are not shipping until Sept 22nd, which my guess is when new iPhones come out and the mac mini’s will ship with the mac operating system too. So, they could have released ATV’s now for shipping Sept 22nd too. So, nothing delusional about it. Lol.

I wonder if they'll announce a few things between now and the iPhone event weekly or something as a buildup to it with all shipping around the same time. Get more press by doing some each week or every few days vs having a bunch of things announced all at once and everything being overshadowed by the iPhone. Time will tell.

The next iPhones are gonna be $300 more per device... but now you can have the polishing cloth for half off!

I've been waiting for the Studio to finally get an update, so I jumped on it right away.

I've had an LG 32 inch6K monitor sitting in a box just waiting for them to release the new Studio so I can retire my 2020 10 core Intel i9 iMac.

I guess the thing to focus on is the based M4 Mac Mini was $599 until a 25 June 2026 and the new M6 Mac Mini is $899 which is a 50% increase for a base Mac Mini. That is a heck of a lot of inflation. I wonder whether people's income went up by 50% in the same time frame. I don't think so. My upgrade times are moving from 2 to 5 years to 5 years to never. Sad days indeed. I cannot even get excited by the increases in performance since the fact is I can no longer justify the costs for these machines. I will be interested to see how this affects Apple sales, if at all. It may change volume but not revenue since unit cost increases compensate for reduced volume.

I think they want you to lease hardware now

I had some hopes here, but the M6 looks more like an M5e and the price of the 64GB M5 Pro mini is well beyond my pocket. Also the studio specs aren't quite where I thought they'd be for the M3ultra->M5ultra transition. I'm guessing this is why this was not announced as a big thing ... small spec bumps, big price bumps.

I have a feeling there might be more announcements coming tomorrow and conclude the day after with the iPhone event invites.

Tim Cooks last great act as CEO, is to use his supply chain genius to offer us a Mac product at 50% off! It’s the polishing cloth. I wonder where they found the cheaper labor for that? I’m sure that Amazon will, with glee, clearly undercut that at $7.99. Seriously though, this is really bad optics, to show us all the increased prices on Macs and then release the polishing cloth on the same day. Apple has an established PR department, but maybe they need to hire a vibe checker.

It is ridiculous, useless and as someone else said borderline criminal that they are delivering baseline models of a
Mac Studio with 512. ???
Mac Mini with 256. ????
Really? As in raising the prices 40% is not enough that they need to keep this absurd unusable baseline RAMs?
Someone tell Apple we are on 2026 and Mac Mini/Studios are NOT phones... 😡🙁😱

Memory prices have increased by 500% in the last 12 months alone according to Toms Hardware. Apple had no shot of holding off price increases when their memory costs per unit increase from $50 to $300+.

This AI bubble can’t pop fast enough.

You aren’t wrong, it’s a bad time to buy upgrades and it’s probably lasting all through next year. Thank god I upgraded at the M4. Apple is clearly going to take a big hit in sales volume, not just on Macs but iPhones when their prices are forced to increase too.

If Mac Mini pricing had kept pace with inflation from the Intel days base price would be over a $1,000. Truth is Apple did an amazing job with Apple silicon to not just increase performance by light years over the Intel era, but to drive down pricing from $799 to $599 while doubling base memory capacity.

Unfortunately the 500% increase in memory prices this year has undone almost all that work temporarily. But once the Ai bubble bursts and the memory business goes back to glut, these prices will get slashed back to their generational lows they were at the start of the year.
