Really - these new mac mini’s/mac’s are not shipping until Sept 22nd, which my guess is when new iPhones come out and the mac mini’s will ship with the mac operating system too. So, they could have released ATV’s now for shipping Sept 22nd too. So, nothing delusional about it. Lol.

Apples and oranges. The new ATV is going to be marketed heavily on features only available in ios27, whereas those mini’s/studios are being marketed on their own upgraded merits (namely the M6/M5 Pro and Ultra) that have nothing to do with MacOS27.

For what it's worth, I opted to try the new leasing option because it was hard to resist getting an M5 Ultra with 96 GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD for only $120 per month.

Otherwise, I would've been happy getting the M5 Max with 64 GB and a 1TB drive.

Freakishly expensive. I'm still rocking my 2022 M1 Max Mac Studio. Best Mac I've ever used. If you're not making AI slop, these new machines are just overkill.

I understand the unfortunate need for the increase in price but $899 for a computer with 256 GB in 2026 is criminal.

Came here to say the exact same thing. If $899 dollars got you the 512GB of storage. The price would seem to be more palatable.

If Mac Mini pricing had kept pace with inflation from the Intel days base price would be over a $1,000. Truth is Apple did an amazing job with Apple silicon to not just increase performance by light years over the Intel era, but to drive down pricing from $799 to $599 while doubling base memory capacity.

Unfortunately the 500% increase in memory prices this year has undone almost all that work temporarily. But once the Ai bubble bursts and the memory business goes back to glut, these prices will get slashed back to their generational lows they were at the start of the year.

I'm not sure the AI bubble will burst? I think at best we can hope for it to taper off and the industry finds a new hype train to follow. Time will tell, who is right.
